DollyDodge Posted November 6, 2009 Report Posted November 6, 2009 Hi: Can someone tell me what a replacement spring would be for the Throttle Return spring on a B-2-C it has a part number of 14-16-1? thanks Quote
greg g Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 the number listed is the plate illustration number not necessarily the mopar part number. You have to take that number fromt he issustration to the parts list to look up the part number. that said you chould be able to find something that will work at the hardwarestore or at most parts houses. Take what left of the old one or the illustration if that all you have, and you should be able to match something up. Quote
norrism1 Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 DollyDogde, Try to get the spring with the same diameter wire and coil length. Other wise pedal will be stiff or really easy to drop to the floor when foot pressure is applied. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 I just went to my local hardware store and looked through their drawers of springs until I found one long enough, and with about the right tension. It works fine for me. Merle Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 I bought a new spring for the engine in my coupe when I rebuilt my engine. All I did was take the spring to the auto parts store and matched it up with a new one hanging on the rack. First one I bought was too stiff, so went back and got a weaker one. Quote
DollyDodge Posted November 9, 2009 Author Report Posted November 9, 2009 My problem is I don't have an original to work with to figure out how long or what the diameter should be. It has a throttle return spring but it isn't correctly set up. Some has put a spring that goes from the top throttle linkage to the wheel well panel. The old spring must have broken and someone rigged it up the way it is now. I will just try to find one that works. Thanks Quote
norrism1 Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 The spring (# 1088-169) connects to a Cotter pin (7/8 x 1\8) in the firewall directly inline with the throttle linkage rod. Go to the DPETCA link and look at page 14-6. Does not have any info on spring tho. Quote
