FatDSoto
Has anybody tried using a product called Armaflex to insulate the inside of their car? It is used in the HVAC industry as pipe insulation. It can be bought in sheets from 1/4" to 1" thick. It is glued with contact cement. It is a closed cell rubber product. The price is low, especially compared to some of these other products like Dynamat or others. Just wondered if anyone could say it's good or bad for this use. Don Coatney
Having worked in food plants with refrigeration systems for several years I have used Armaflex many times. I would think it would work well in this application. Good idea!
PatS....
Would this be sound insulation as well as temperature?
Plymouthy Adams
if you are talking about sheets of dense rubber foam..I have this in the 41 coupe floor inside and the trunk..and will place inserts within the doors as well. This stuff is is what we knew as Rubbertex..used extensively on navy ships..I have seen entire rooms (compartments) coated in this stuff...very nice insulation and sound deading material. I used it as a base layment and will have the typical jute backing along with the carpet on top of this stuff..easily glued in place, seams sealed agains dirt etc with duct tape..the product I used is about 1/2 inch thick.. FatDSoto
This stuff will work as sound, temperature and vibration insulation. It is cheap, a 1/4" sheet is abot $15.00. I was thinking of using 1/2" everywhere I can. Should make the car very quiet. Thanks for the replies.

baldbusdriver
where can this stuff be purchased? is it something that can be found at lowes or home depot? or someplace more specialized? it sounds like it may be just what the doctor ordered, good insulation and low price. FatDSoto
I'm in the HVAC business and we buy it from a local HVAC supplier. Try typing Armaflex in google and see if it lets you find a local dealer.
