On the top of the cyliner head, there are some numbers. The first set of numbers look they are screwed on..but I could be wrong.

12 28 54 is the first set. It's on the top...just in front of the coil bracket on the driver side of the motor.

Is that a production date or something else?

Just to add to the confusion my truck has

6-4

K

On the tag on the head do not see another number on the head.

But my is a bit of a puzzle no #'s on the pad for the engine number and no casting number that make sense. For now I am going with a suggestion from the car side that it maybe a rebuilders block. I did find what I think is a part # 1484929

Found the engine code. Looks like T306 1235582_ (can't read the last number).

Found a link in a previous post...looks like the engine is the 218ci with 23" head from a 51-53 truck. Not sure why the head has a late 54 date on it..I guess it was changed at some point.

The number toward the back of the head looks like 181882. Does that number tell you anything?
