Frank Blackstone Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 I need to replace a leaking proportioning/combination valve for a 1986 Plymouth Voyager minivan. None available from any supplier so I figure to use an adjustable aftermarket. Will the adjustable valve handle all ranges of pressure that could be needed between the disk and drum brakes? Any other considerations in selecting this aftermarket valve. Thanks, Frank Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 I would assume the adjustable valve will work. Several years ago my son installed rear disc brakes on his 80 Firebird. His valve was also an adjustable one. Took him a little while to get it adjusted correctly, but he finally got it adjusted so the brakes worked right. But........did you check with ECI. They make/sell disc brake systems, including the valves. Don't know if theirs are adjustable or not. But........if adjustable, that would tell you that you could probably buy any adjustable valve, since they don't make the valves. Might want to give them a call to check it out. Also, MP Brakes could probably answer that question. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 I believe that these are pretty much the same for a number of years and applications to Mopars across the line up...a quick visit to the wrecking yard will make it an in and out deal to exchange and eliminate the tubing/plumping nightmare you may encounter with the aftermarket device... Frank Blackstone Posted October 10, 2009 Author Report Posted October 10, 2009 Thanks for the info guys. I think I found one and only 50 miles away. Seems the yards around here scrap anything older than 10 or 15 years. Tim, I'll check with ECI Monday. Frank Quote
