bob westphal Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 Does anyone have a good vibrator for an old 6V mopar radio that they would sell? Quote
Furylee2 Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 I think they are still making them. I had my model 800 repaired for my 41 coupe last year, and the repair guy boasted he put in a new 6V positive ground solid state vibrator. Quote
bob westphal Posted January 31, 2007 Author Report Posted January 31, 2007 I have tried to buy them around here. All suppliers want to check out the radio before they sell you a vibrator. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 I came across a couple retailer online that will sell you a solid sate vibrator..do some more searching and stay away from the repair shops if at all possible. They make their money on labor on the assumption you don't know what you are doing and if you do they refuse to sell the part..catch 22..happens all the time..in all speciality trades. Thought I need a vibrator till I read the trouble shooter guide..all I need is a tube and I have yet to look it up ..I have 2 large boxes of tubes upstairs that have been around since the 40's... randroid Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 I have two original radios I'm not going to use. I'm going to create a facia door from one of them, but the rest is up for grabs. How do I check the vibrator before I send it, hook it to a battery and listen for a hum? -Randy Quote
vanbuskirk Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 An electronic vibrator is available. I bought new filter capacitors and a vibrator for my '54 radio. Radio works fine. Easy people to deal with. Bob http://www.tubesandmore.com/ (search positive ground vibrator = $29.95) Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 I once saw an ad for a vibrator, but think it was from an "adult" store. Don't know how it worked with the radio. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 Bob, I saw the same ad, it didn't specify 6 or 12 volt! Quote
kevin h P15 Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 I bought a 6 V positive gnd from info@radiodaze.com. Good service - has a whole catalog of old radio restoration parts. I was solid state (I want to take it apart) - but oscillates at 100cps just like the mechanical one. About $25-30. Looks & fits like the original. Here is the payment address. littleman Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 The voltage dosen't matter, it's the vibration. AL Quote
bob westphal Posted February 1, 2007 Author Report Posted February 1, 2007 Thanks for the help Y'all, I order one from Antique Electronic Supply at http://www.tubesandmore.com/ Bob Quote
bob_amos Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 Yes, Tubesandmore.com is your best bet. I collect vintage radios and have never had a single problem with any of the parts that I have purchased from them. And I have purchased a ton from them over the years. Quote
