1947 Lyon steel whitewalls...on the road again

I have them on my '41 Dodge. Not sure what brand they are. Have thought about going to 15" radials but like my current wheel decor too much to do it yet.

Back in the 1970s I had, for a while, a 41 Dodge coupe like that.

I put on it some 1951 DeSoto wheel covers......they were all one

piece, but looked like a small chrome cap with the white ring.

I've seen that but when I look at the back of those LWW, I just logically can't see how they would stay on...

Here's a couple of photos of the back of the 16" Lyon metal whitewalls I have.This one is off my 46 Plymouth.Stock rims -they fit on much the same as a trim ring..push them in place by hand and they fit in place quite snug

Thanks so much, mine look like that as well. I'm taking the wheels to a friend of mine to get the old tires taken off. From there, the wheels will goto a sand blaster and will be powder coated. After that, it's radials for me and then the white walls and hub caps!

Yes, mine look like that as well. Maybe they are Lyons. There were some in the trunk when we drug the car out of the old barn and I found a couple at the Carlisle swap meet 20 years ago. My Dad had a '48 Chrysler Coupe that had ones like the "47 Chrysler pictured in this thread. They were 15" though and mine are 16".

Okay folks, I got one on one of the wheels to test. However, how the hell do i get it off? It won't budge. And I don't want to damage it. I tried using the screwdriver, but it still did not budge.

6.00-16 bias ply. Mine fit pretty tight but a screwdriver working around is the only way I know to get them off........Tim

Folks,

I was able to get them off with 47Heaven's help. I had to buy some pry bars but they came off fine. I am ecstatic that I'm so close to that new ride and look.
