Norm's Coupe Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 Car looks great, so does the Chevy. How long do you think it'll take you to fill up that nice big new garage? Quote
Don Coatney Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 Dennis; Car looks terrific (actually bofe-um). And your new digs look good although a bit empty. Tell us about the tractor. Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted January 27, 2007 Author Report Posted January 27, 2007 Don. The Tractor is a 1990 Kubota 36 Hp 3 cyl, Diesel, 4X4. My dad bought it new in Arkansas then moved it to South Carolina and when he passed away I had it shipped to California. Our Grandson loves it. Dennis:( Quote
Frank Blackstone Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 I like the color and it looks sort of candy to me. What brand and color? Frank Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted January 27, 2007 Author Report Posted January 27, 2007 The paint is DuPont, Base Coat/Clear Coat, and it is a special mix of Candy Apple Forest Green. It was mixed by the paint shop to match the paint that was on the car. My wife loves the color and it goes with the interior that she had done for my Christmas present a couple of years ago. BobT-47P15 Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 Dennis......at a glance, it looks just like it did before. And, of course, that's what you wanted. Only better condition. It seems they duplicated your paint very well. Too bad it took a flying tent to get that repaint, but probably a good thing in the long run. Now, go drive and enjoy. Quote

My dad bought it new in Arkansas then moved it to South Carolina and when he passed away I had it shipped to California. Our Grandson loves it.Dennis:( Nice tractor Dennis; When I lived near Buffalo, New York I owned a Case-International 3 cylinder diesel. I parked it in the field one night after bailing hay and when I started it the next morning I was showered with black water coming out the exhaust. I drove it to my shop and called my neighbor who was a diesel mechanic. He said he would check it out on his way to work. I knew the head gasket was blown or possibly the block/head cracked so I tore it down. When my neighbor arrived I handed him the head so he could check it out. No cracks and the head gasket was the problem. I went to the local International Harvester dealer and told them of the problem and ordered a "valve grind" gasket set. The gaskets arrived with no head gasket. I soon learned (although the dealer did not tell me so) that International Harvester head gaskets do not come with the valve grind set. Re-assembling this diesel was a challenge. There is a valve adjusting/timing procedure that must be followed. I had a shop manual and followed this procedure. Got it back together and had no more problems. Sold this tractor at auction a day before I moved to California. I last saw it as the auction winner left my place and was driving it down the road on a 40 mile trip to its new home at a grape orchard on the east side of Lake Erie. Quote
David Maxwell Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 Your `48 looks great and would make a great entry in our mild modified class! Quote
Don Coatney Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 Your `48 looks great and would make a great entry in our mild modified class! David; Define "mild" modified??? Is your car "mild" modified?? What is the next step in modifications? Would my car be severly modified or some where in between? Just curious! Quote
David Maxwell Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 ...a car that looks basically stock on the outside, might have non-stock upholstery, and whatever engine and drivetrain changes that have been made are "under the hood". Your car and Dennis' car would be good examples. Even one with totally non-stock engine, but no visible exterior evidence (blowers, louvers, side-pipes etc.). Personally, I wouldn't have minded a full mod class either, but the group decided to keep the mods mild for a variety of reasons. Great group of people in our Regional POC! For this meet, anyone who is NOT a member of the POC and wishes to participate in either stock or mild mod classes, will recieve a one month trial membership in the GSR POC free with their reg fees. So there's no reason for anyone thinking about coming on out to CA to not do so Quote
JerseyHarold Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 Don, Earlier in this thread you mentioned you lived near Buffalo at one time. Just curious....what town were you in? I attended Geneseo and University of Buffalo, and have a good friend who lives in Pavilion (outside Batavia). Quote
Don Coatney Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 Harold; I lived in the snow belt at Orangeville Center on RT 20A 8 miles west of Warsaw (Wyoming County) and 19 miles from Pavillion. I used to go to the cattle auction in Pavillion. I have a son (pictured on the right in this picture) who lives in Akron, New York. Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted January 30, 2007 Author Report Posted January 30, 2007 Now I'm crying, I don't know why but the new paint has started to crack and bubble. I also found out that when they wet sanding they filled the door with water and now the inside door panels are warped and stained. We are just sick, but thank god we haven't paid the shop. See You later I'm off to bed Dennis:mad: Quote
