Master cylinder lid gasket

Go to your auto parts store and then get some gasket material.

Use the lid as you template and trace the outlines. Get the rubber cork material.

Al you are trying to do is seal out that water and dirt do not get into the main part of the cylinder. Eaven a thin peice of paper gasket would do you just fine.

Cut out the inside so you can fill the cylinder and so the unit can let out the pressure out when releasing the pedal.

I really liked the idea of a remote master cylinder reservoir - you know, up there on the firewall, a transslucent thing you could check at a glance without all the mess down there, getting the filler plug out just to check the level.

Well, I'm here to tell ya' that even that little bit of head pressure from the small helf-cup reservoir I bought from Pegasus.com makes the six-bolt lid master cylinder type leak. They're just not made for any head pressure. Like Todd says, the gasket is jsut paper, and thin paper, at that. Guess I'll just have to use my remote reservoir as a permanently mounted funnel for adding fluid when needed.

Bummer . . . :(
