Does this car still have the foot pedal operated starter or was it changed to a button when the p15 engine was installed? I always liked the '42s:).

That oval shaped fixture is the side mount antenna base

The funny thing is, that it has a radio, but I don't see any locations for a the speakers yet or even wires. But I will start ripping it down soon.

Hey Young_ED I will be at car craft with my magnum, are you going to be down there?

Also - is the under bumper air scoop, is that suppose to be there or not?

Again you guys are awesome as heck!

Yes, the air scoop below the front bumper is supposed to be there.

The radio speaker in these old cars is usually behind the chrome grille in

the center of the dash. Was usually one wire about big around as a pencil

that went to the speaker. Had a round plug on the end.....they used an

"electromagnetic" speaker back then. Can be replaced with a more modern

speaker with minor modifications.

I sometimes drive around the area but I haven't gone in to that show in years. Its the weekend of the 18-19th right? I've got plans on the 19th but could maybe meet up with you on the 18th.

I have '42 2 door sedan I'll start on soon. low miles, under 30,000. No dents, only rust is floorboards.

One thing I was surprised to find out about was buying parts. I figured that since they only built about 1/4 as many '42's as other years, there wouldn't be many parts. In reality, if you find a part on Ebay, you'll probably be the only bidder. And a surprising number of parts show up.

I've aquired all new gauges, a new speedo in the original box and most of the little chrome bits and parts at reasonable prices. Usually I was the only bidder.

Plans are to put in a new 5.7 hemi and make it a long distance driver.

Seems to be missing the uder bumper air scoop.....the sheetmetal beneath the bumper in the one on the Hemmings cover.

greg g, Isn't the missing piece sitting on the back seat. Kind of hard to really tell but sure looks like it to me!
