aero3113 Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 (edited) I did this mod for my 50 Plymouth and it works great. I have some upclose pics of the new sender modified, I will post them later when I get home. Edited June 18, 2009 by aero3113 Quote
aero3113 Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 Here you go, I did mine a little different than described in the link. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted June 19, 2009 Report Posted June 19, 2009 That gauge kind of worries me......open type connections in the gas tank. I guess it works OK, though. Never heard of an old Mopar blowing up. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 19, 2009 Report Posted June 19, 2009 tell me..who makes one that is not open connection? Quote
oleskool Posted June 19, 2009 Report Posted June 19, 2009 I used a sending unit from a 49-51 Ford. It was necessary to modify the mounting plate and shorten the float arm. When adjusted (by bending the float arm), it worked fine. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 20, 2009 Report Posted June 20, 2009 yes and right there in the same package is the fuel pump..exposed wiring..some are even just slip on connectors...not only voltage but a tad higher than the sending unit plus in fact the current drain here is great..and what happens when the motor locks the rotor, amperage increase....you would think there would be exploding gas tanks on every corner..
