Bob Riding Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 I am about to rebuild a Carter single barrel (stock) carb for the P10, and saw a Speedway Motor's ad for the 9Super7, a $300 reproduction version of original Stromberg 97. I know that the Stromberg 97 has long been favored by flathead hot rodders and racers. Speedway Motors claimed to improved the performance while maintaining the carburetor's original look. Thanks Bob Quote
Frank Elder Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 http://www.jalopyjournel.com/showthread.php?t=344209&highlight=reproduction+stromberg+97 not my opinions, just an interesting read. Quote
greg g Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 Well basically it said the carbs were trash. not high quality castings, crummy parts and very erratic perfomance. Basically they look nice but don't work worth a damn. This based on at least two independent surveys ad reports. Quote
Frank Elder Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 Sorry Bob it is a closed thread I just checked, google the hamb and search stromberg reproduction 97's once you get on the forum 7 different threads Quote
Bob Riding Posted June 1, 2009 Author Report Posted June 1, 2009 Thanks Greg You just saved me from possibly making an expensive mistake! Quote
