Slick Steve Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 Just an update on my Wayfarer. We got it started up last night. After tinkering with the injectors, it fired right up and ran like a top! We still have a little fine tuning to do but it is running! Quote
woodscavenger Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 That is going to be one cool flattie! Quote
greg g Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 Sounds good. those things sure look linteresting, they apparently work also. What a pleasant suprise. Some info found on the "injectors" They are not really injectors, they compare to the preditior carb basically consant flow with a tapered needle coming out of a jet. Think SU solex. ad los of bike carbs. The 100 related to the flow. but it is the median flow, which it tries to maintain. adjusting the the fuel flow to the constant velocity by varying the lenght of needle pulled out of the jet. The actual peak rating is closer to 150. there are also supposed to be a 200 model. Fuel pressure is supposed to be around 2 to 3 lbs. I see your nice looking copper lines. keep in mind that copper will brittle over time with vibration. Your short lengths will be more prone to that as the vibes are concentrated in the shorter lenghts. Not saying to change them but keep your eye on them. Quote
blueskies Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 ...After tinkering with the injectors... Those injectors are the coolest thing since sliced bread... Right on, sounds great. Pete Quote
Jim Shepard Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 Just an update on my Wayfarer. We got it started up last night. After tinkering with the injectors, it fired right up and ran like a top! We still have a little fine tuning to do but it is running! So, what are they and how much did they cost? Also, what other mods to the engine did you do? Quote
Don Coatney Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 I think you should remove the injectors and send them to me for fine tuning. I will return them to you when the tuning is complete. Of course this tuning process may take a few years. Sounds great Quote
PatS.... Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 Sounds great!!!! One more back on the road!!!!!! Quote
RobertKB Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 Love the sound of a flattie on steroids....in the morning. Anytime really! Quote
Slick Steve Posted May 26, 2009 Author Report Posted May 26, 2009 Thanks everyone! We are getting the hang of these things. We had a used one we took apart so we could figure them out. We have the starting procedeure down, and hopefully tomorow will get the mix right, it is still running a little rich. I till get more pics and possibly another video. As far as other mods go, not mady "mods" but a lot of bolt on aftermarket parts; Langdon headers, Mallory Dual Point Dist, Smithy's, Edmunds Intake, Edmunds Fuel Filter, Hudson Twin H Air Cleaners.... Thanks again guys! Quote
