Well Its time to cross over. Finishing by second car and now for the truck I have a 1948 Dodge 1/2 ton. Previous owner filled in the fender bolts, not sure if they welded over them and then filled with bondo or what. So in anticipation of the worst am look for a new front clip, specifically two front fenders. Anyone know of a good source

Not really, I have found that by taking the fron clips off of these vehicles you can you a better paint, body and mechanical work. Like to get my options in place before I take the fenders off.

If a truck still has the rivits the truck probably was rust free. Thats a good thing, as are the rivits! It's a truck look- it's good!

My truck had rust at the rivets, but I repaired that section and replaced the rivets with carriage bolts to keep the "original" look. I know several that have been repaired in that area have gone away from the rivets for a smooth look.

If your fenders don't have rivets it probably has been repaired in that area and you may not have to replace the fenders. If you want that "original" look, drill out the patch and put carriage bolts in there.
