I ordered a pair of cork-type headlight gaskets awhile back from Ross Collins. He's on the Desotoland site. His gaskets - I believe - are for his S-15 Desoto but the hole pattern fit my S-11 almost perfectly. A little Xacto knife trimming here and there. They are beautifully done, like factory fresh parts. His email is RCollinsii@woh.rr.com.

They are fifteen dollars a pair and he didn't ask me for postage but I sent him an extra five bucks anyway. A real nice fella!

He apparently can also custom make various parts.

Mr. Bingster, please double-check that e-mail address for Mr. Collins. The mailer rejected RCollinsii@woh.rr.com. I need a pair of headlight gaskets really, really bad.

I decided to re-wire my engine compartment. For the exposed wires, I ordered fabric covered wire from magnetoparts.com a week and a half ago. But my check has't cleared yet and he hasn't responded to my e-mail. I'll call him tomorrow. If that's bust, I'll be looking elsewhere for the fabric covered wire. I know, the harness people also sell fabric covered wire; their names are on the tip of my tongue.

In the meantime, I'll build the harness with plastic coated wire, and splice in the fabric covered wires some other day.

I've gone ahead with the wiring in front of the radiator, for the headlights, parking lights and turn signals. (I'm waiting for fabric covered wire for the horns.) I found that the headlight buckets were rusty, so I removed the headlight assemblies and I've got them apart for cleaning, rust removal and painting. The headlight gaskets gave up a ghost as I removed the buckets.

Tim, those craft stores like Michaels or Hobby Lobby can be pretty handy for some

old car related things. I bought some heavy cardboard to use for kick panels and

for backing in the trunk......then covered them with maroon vinyl. Worked fine.

Put on some cotton batting and then the material. Not quite a totally professional

job, but they look OK to the average passerby.
