JIPJOBXX Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 I have a friend who just bought a basket case 1951 Chevy and its a very cherry old car but the engine has been taken out. I would like to get some information for him on different sites on the internet that deal with these old Chevy's. He might like to just buy a used or rebuilt six with the two speed transmission also. Can anyone give me some infor in this area? Thanks Jon Quote
Young Ed Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 Not sure how much help they'd be with an engine but if he needs other stuff he'll want to talk to national chevy. Not sure what their website is because they happen to be local for us but they had almost everything you could ever want for the 50 chev we had. Quote
1940plymouth Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 My son Shane has a '51 Chevy 4dr sedan, which he has had for ten years. National Chevy is a great place to do business with as is the Filling Station and Chev's of the '40's. Not sure of their web addresses. VICCA is a national Chevy club that he might want to check into. They have a good forum also.. Hope this helps Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 There's also a site called Old Stove Bolt something or another, in addition to the others mentioned. That said, if the motor and tranny is already gone, I'd drop in a 350 crate motor with a 350 turbo in it. Or, a good 283 with power glide tranny. Quote
dezeldoc Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 Tell him to go and find a 292 or 250 and a 700r4, it is a killer combo in those old chevys, my 41 sedan delivery is set up with a 250 and 700r4 and a jag rear and it is the perfect combo! Here are a few sites http://www.stoveboltengineco.com/ http://www.stovebolt.com/ Quote
