pretty neat. When he pulled in after the run, I noticed that the tires were a lot wider than would have been normal, taller also. Wonder if they were runnign truck tires????

For you fans of statistics:

Chrysler Airflow Imperial coupe broke more than 70 national and international American Automobile Association (AAA) records at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah during the summer of 1934.

In a non-stop 24-hour run, the car averaged 84.43 mph and hit speeds in excess of 95 mph. Another Imperial managed a creditable 18 mpg on a cross-country economy sprint.

The DeSoto Airflow was equally impressive: 86.2 mph in the flying mile, 76.2 mph average for 500 miles, and a 74.7-mph average for 2,000 miles, again under AAA auspices.

Great video! Thanks for sharing your find.

There is also another one: The same guy does coast-to-coast AAA sponsored economy run in an Airflow Imperial 2D sedan/coupe. Great sceneries both country & cities.

This is where I find the www-net most fascinating: There are great period material available easier than I ever could imagine. Where a common man could have found films like these or prints like for instance in "Old Car Manual Project" ten years ago? Or a great site like P15/D24 with all invaluable information and top notch fellow hobby people!

Fascinating and a good example of what the web can do. Thanks for sharing. I have always like Airflows but I know they never did sell well. Chrysler was just too far ahead of its time with it. They are now scarce and expensive. A fellow in the same car club I belong to has a last year 1937 Chrylser Imperial Airflow with the straight eight. Gorgeous car.

Take a look at the scene of the final lap. As the announcer talks about how the crew is "going wild", there are two guys holding up a sign. Watch what they do when the put down the sign.:D

Great video! Thanks for sharing.
