48Dodger Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 Only 10 days til the Clements BBQ! The weather has been pretty nice and spring is definatley here. Remember, if you have a RV or trailer and want to spent the night before or after, its fine by me. There's a few Pilothouse owners in the area I didnt know about, who saw the flyer and are going to be here. One man I've been tryin' to get a hold of is a local rancher who bought his 48PH in 1948, and still uses it as a daily driver. Hope everyone can make it! 48D Quote

blohmiller Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 48D should be leaving here around 3 today to head your way to drop off that rear end for the BBQ Bryan Quote
Jim Shepard Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 I'll be there. I also got in touch with Charlie and he'll be there (he's the guy with the red and white hemi-powered '51. Also, I dropped a flyer off at Elk Grove Radial Tire Service. John, the owner, has a B3C flatbed. Fianlly, I'm trying to get my neighbor to come. He just finished a '48 Ford flatbed and has several old Dodges sittin' around his place. Quote
48Dodger Posted April 19, 2009 Author Report Posted April 19, 2009 I like Charlie's truck! Glad to hear he's gonna make it. My son and I have been workin hard cleaning up (ie mowin' and weedin') and MAN...did we get sun burned! lol. its been in the mid 80's here. Susposed to be in the 70's for the BBQ. Can't wait. 48D Quote
48Dodger Posted April 19, 2009 Author Report Posted April 19, 2009 Hey! Big thanks to Bryan Lohmiller and his son for stoppin' by and helping move some old cars of mine for the "Q". 48D Quote
Jim Shepard Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 I'm still amazed Charlie was able to wedge that thing in there without cutting anything... Quote
BulldogTom Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 Is that visor thing over the windshield a standard item, option, or aftermarket add on? I have seen a lot of them on these trucks, but mostly on the higher end jobs. Personally, I don't care for them, but I was just wondering why I see them on these trucks so much. That is one beautiful truck. I like the chrome detail on the front fenders. Is that another one on the bed also? My son and a good friend of mine are going to try to stop by the BBQ. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend. Quote
48Dodger Posted April 21, 2009 Author Report Posted April 21, 2009 Hey Tom, Stop by this week for a vist. I'm off work for 2 weeks, it would be a great time to meet. Hey Jim, Is Charlie's Hemi a 241? I seem to remember he used some caddy trim too. 48D Quote
48Dodger Posted April 24, 2009 Author Report Posted April 24, 2009 The first travelers are here from Redwood City, Ca. Bob's on his way with "stuff" for the frig. The yardwork is done, the "swap meet area" is ready, and the dogs are locked up. I'm way tired from all the cleaning up, but really appreciate the motivation the BBQ gives me to dust. lol. I'm looking forward to tomorrow and want to thank everyone in advance for helpin' out. Tonight I'll be workin on my truck so it looks like something for tomorrow..lol. The front end is in, but the boxing of the frame isn't finished. I did fab a crossmember for the new tranny and original gas tank. So I guess I'll throw the cab on and call it "show ready". See ya'all tomorrow. Tim Estrada aka "48dodger" Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 Tim; Sure wish I could be there. However I am stuck in Boston for a couple of weeks. Say hay (whoops hay is fur horses) hey to everyone for me. Make sure you post lotsa pictures. Keep your race car fresh and increase the size of the winders so I can "fit" in:cool: Quote
pflaming Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 So sorry I cannot attend this year. With two grandkids and a son living with us a lot has changed. All is getting under control so we are very thankful for that. Hope to drive up in my truck next year. Quote
blohmiller Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 good Job 48D had a great time I think the best truck this year was the 48 panel Bryan Quote
