mochevy69 Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 Hey guys! There is a chrome shop located in Seneca, SC if anyone is interested. I've had several parts plated lately. Very acceptable work IMO. Molecular Technology (in the book). Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 There is an easier cheaper way to make that chrome look better. Street Rodders found it a long time ago. Just paint it. Quote
Brendan D25 Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 A few years back I heard that Canadian platers were less expensive because of fewer environmental regulations and the favorable exchange rate. Don't know if any of that still applies. The exchange rate is favourable for you guys in the U.S. now. There are still quite a few platers around, but it is also getting more expensive and plus shipping. Maybe we'll end up maintaining our old cars like they have been doing in Cuba, using whatever works. Quote
P15Mike Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 Just got off the phone with Keystone . They want 469.00 per bumper with a 4mo turnaround ... They only have 2 plants open now in the entire US , one in Michigan and the other in Minnesota ..price seems high to me but they're the first i've called on . Does anyone know the quality of these guys or maybe even the Bumper Boyz ? Plan on sending my bumpers out within the next month or so... Young Ed Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 Mike Dad had many bumpers done at Northstar bumper which was bought out by Keystone. I think its still the same plant they are using here in MN. Quality was great on all of them but its been a while since he's had any done. I've heard about bumper boyz you need to pick them up in person to double check their work/quality Quote
rolliejoe Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 there's a good vendor for bumpers that shows up at the Mopar Nats every year, forget the name right now. I think they are out of Tennessee. Quote
gnordlie Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 Keystone did my front bumper and bumperettes and they did a real nice job. Less than 2 years ago the bill was 300.00 for bumper and 75 each for the guards. Quote
PatrickG Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 the local place here in gilroy quoted me 7-800 hundred for a pair of bumpers. another option he told me about was a chrome paint he had. i was skeptical but he showed me some parts, and i swear i couldnt tell the difference. i think i would stick to chrome for the bumpers for durability's sake, but for trim like hood ornaments and things like that, it seems like a good alternative. especially because they can use body filler to fix the pitting. he had some display pieces that he fixed half of to show the difference, and man they were in bad shape on the untouched side, but the painted half looked brand new, even out in the sun. ill see if i can get some pictures....
