I have searched the archives but didn't find the answer. The Vinyl Fender welting that goes between the rear fender and the body, is it also used on the front fenders of a P15? (The vertical stretch just in front of the door.)

Thanks,

There is a material between the fenders and the body but its not visible from the outside like the fender welting.

The welting needs to have an adequate amount of notches in the

attaching material, to let it make the curves of the fender gracefully.

Notice how it sort of twists at the front edge of the fender.

You can use vinyl welting, available in assorted colors, if you would

rather. Some say easier to install. However, stainless is the right

stuff.

there are several pieces of anti squeek stuff betwee the cowl and front fenders and the grille sheet metal and the front fenders. The stainless welting is a bear to bend around those compound curves at the bottom of the fender. The vinal stuff is easy to use and cheap if you screw up. Some of it now comes with a chrome bead.

The '41s had the fender welt in both the front and rear fenders. I used the vinyl with chrome bead that Greg referred to. Very easy to work with and not expensive. I got it from JC Whitney.
