Allen I. Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 I know these have been posted in the past but I take a look at Rawge's page every now and then. I think there might be a few newer folks who have never visited his site. If you have not, take a look. Some good information. http://home.comcast.net/~jobrated/ This page is a can't miss. I think you have to work your way up to the scissors entry. http://home.comcast.net/~jobrated/tips2.htm Enjoy Quote
Merle Coggins Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 Ah yes... the sewing sissors... I remember them well. Mom used to yell at us all the time for cutting paper with her "good" sewing sissors. Apparently cutting paper dulls the edges so that they don't cut cloth well anymore. I payed her back years later though. My Snap-on dealer had a holiday special on a very nice sissor set. I bit the bullet and purchased the set and gave it to my mother for Christmas. She said that they were the nicest sissors that she ever had. And the good thing was, I wasn't around the house anymore to use them for cutting paper. Merle Quote
MBF Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 That story sounds vaguely familar! After being married almost 29 yrs I know not to mess with her sewing stuff. How do I come to that conclusion you may ask?Ever come in from the garage and try to use a piece of thread off a spool to get a piece of food from between your teeth, or sewing needles to clean out carburator jets? Then there's the knitting needles that can be used to plug off a vacuum or fuel line. Try cutting aluminum tape with her good scissors-they can be spotless and the fingerprints wiped clean and she'll still know. Do not try these at home. Mike Quote
Willis Pingel Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 That hot nut reminds me of the time I was trying to get a lug nut off, with a big breaker bar, and my wife happens by and I sad "hey Honey come here, would you hold this?" and I droped the hot nut in her hand. Well she held it for a few seconds and screemed. Well needless to say things got pretty quit around my house for a couple of weeks. not advisable. Bill in Racine Quote
bach4660 Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 I was putting together a headliner and one corner came loose, so I had the brilliant idea of using the iron to apply a little heat, unfortunately I got some of the glue onto the iron, and forget to clean it. That iron is still in the corner of the shop. Quote
Don Coatney Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 I have the opposite problem. My wife will get in my tool box and get my best side cutters to trim her rose bush. Then I will find them rusted tight on the front porch two days later after they sit out in the rain. I have bought her her very own side cutters but that is not good enough. She always finds my favorite new dikes or my best screwdriver to stir paint and never cleans it. Quote
