martybose Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 My 47 didn't have the covers when I bought it, just had a couple of screws holding the wiper arm pivots into the body. Once I figured out what was missing, I went looking for some. The ones I found were covered with red overspray, which i removed this morning. So, here are my questions: 1. What color or finish are the wiper pivot covers normally? Are they painted some standard color, or maybe match the body color, or are they bare metal? 2. Does anyone know a source for the spanner wrench to fit the nut that holds the pivot covers on? I just went through the McMaster-Carr catalog, and they don't have anything . I suppose I could get some 3/4" steel pipe, bore it out to 5/8" and grind the end down to leave a pair of 1/16" pins, but that seems like such a hassle. Marty Quote
martybose Posted November 20, 2008 Author Report Posted November 20, 2008 Oh come on now, 37 people have read the original posting, and no one knows how the wiper pivot outside covers are finished? I doubt it! Marty Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 is the deluxe painted and the special deluxe chrome..this may be the confusion...and for the spanner wrench..make one..actuallu a good start would be a golf spike key...modify to fit from there... Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 I looked in the Parts Manual.....it says windshield wiper pivot hole cover, white. There were no other choices. Attaches with a chrome plated oval head screw. May have been painted to match the car....or possibly grey, black, or brown. The ones on the convert and wagon are totally different than the rest. They look like this.... Quote
RobertKB Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 My '48 Dodge D25 (Plymouth in Dodge clothing) has the pivot covers painted body colour. I have never seen a chrome cover on a Plymouth except for the convertible. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 Looks like these were painted to match the body. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 I went to the barn and looked at my business coupe and the sedan..both are painted units.... Quote
