grey beard Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 My Pilothouse project is just about completed and is now back on the road. Pics will follow soon.Still have to install the hood and interior trim. I have a lot of extra B1B parts that are too good to throw away. I hope someone in our club who lives not too far away can use them - mostly small bits and pieces, but lots of them Contact me via e-mail if you live close enough to come get them, or let me know what you need. They're yours for the shipping, or come pick 'em up andd visit a while. 2- window regulators 2- door latches 4- door hinges 1- 16-inch rim 1 set - tie rods 2- newly rebuilt single horn assemblies 1- speedo unit - works and free, but face is rough 2- clutch discs generator rebuildable core carb rebuildable core lots of small parts Before you ask, there are no glove box locks, ash trays, r.h. visors or extra arm rests in the lot . . . Also, I am in need of just a few pieces to finish things up. I need one dash lamp socket and pigtail, a door lock cylinder with key, and an original heater swith. Quote

Young Ed Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 Dave you can get the dash lamp sockets new at napa. I ordered one but just used the guts to rewire my old sockets. Quote
pflaming Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 I cannot get my old dash sockets to stay put. Any suggestions? Quote
Young Ed Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 Try new ones as pictured in my post or try bending the little tabs out further Quote
Dan Babb Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 My horn doesn't work...does the b1 horn look like the b3 horn? Quote
grey beard Posted December 4, 2009 Author Report Posted December 4, 2009 Hey Dan, Let me know if'n you still need a horn. I can surely make yer day . . . Good Luck Quote
Dan Babb Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 Dave...yes I do. I'm not sure if the problem with mine is electrical or the horn itself, but I'd like to have the horn anyway (because with my luck, if I don't get it, my horn will be broken). My zip code is 27358. Please let me know how much to send you and how you want it sent. Quote
pflaming Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 Ed, tried bending the tabs on the front park lights but they broke like pot metal. Since it worked for you, I will try on these. Rebuilding or even just doing a clean and reassemble job on an old vehical involves a lot of little details and learning curves. Quote
MMcKinney Posted December 5, 2009 Report Posted December 5, 2009 Grey Beard, I found a universal door lock that matches very close to the Dodge factory one for a 53 B4B. Sacromento Vintage Ford (916-853-2244). They have a web site, but I'm not sure if the universal lock is on it. I got a catalog with an order I placed when I bought the Ford inner door "dove tails" (male & female). The Ford dove tail parts are identical to the Dodge parts. The universal lock is $18.00 + shiping and will be $27.00 to your door. I feel the shipping is too high priced, but what else can you do. The universal lock is just slightly larger (about 1-2 /64th of inch larger) than the orginal lock, so I took a rotory grinder and very slowly hogged out the holder untill the lock just fit. The metal lock holder is already pretty thin and reaming it out does not help it any, but the lock will fit. At lest mine did and then you cut the square post down and you are set. Also, I need to ask you a quick question. I am looking for 2 parts. First, I need a defrost vent for a 53 B4B passenger side and second I need a door check bracket. I have one good one, but the other is missing the hold clips to prevent the door from swinging back closed. Do you have these parts in your pile of odds and ends? MMcKinney caldwell Quote
grey beard Posted December 8, 2009 Author Report Posted December 8, 2009 Sorry, I have no door check straps or any of the other parts you seek. I'm pretty well down to the list L posted, and that is dwindeling as time goes by. Quote
Young Ed Posted December 8, 2009 Report Posted December 8, 2009 Ed, tried bending the tabs on the front park lights but they broke like pot metal. Since it worked for you, I will try on these. Rebuilding or even just doing a clean and reassemble job on an old vehical involves a lot of little details and learning curves. Did you buy the new sockets yet? I actually didn't use the metal housings. I transfered the new wiring spring etc to my old socket. I'm not sure how many of them I have but you could have them if they'll help. Or if you just want me to try one in a hole to see how well they snap in I could do that too. Quote
grey beard Posted December 8, 2009 Author Report Posted December 8, 2009 Thanks, Younger, That original post was from long ago. I now have everything I need, and am finished with the project . . . except for a nasty oil leak coming from the front of the engine. Prollem is, I gotta drain and pull the radiagator to get to the thing, before I know what I haveta' fix. Methinks it's the cheap front main seal - didn't like the lookz of that sucker when I installed it. If'n it's leakin' now, I'll like it even less, if such is possible. Thanks for the kind offer, anyhoo Regards, Quote
