rlovette Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 I have a 41 P-11..and have been thinking about installing an electric fuel pump to make starting (6 volt) a bit easier. Pros? Cons? Thoughts? Years ago, my dad put an electric fuel pump on a '52 Desoto (Hemi) to help with starting. Does AC still make a 6V pump? Quote
Jim Yergin Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 I installed an Airtex 6 volt electric fuel pump on my '41 P12. I got it at CarQuest. I find it works well in getting the car started if it has been sitting. I have an on/off switch and use only the mechanical pump to drive the car. Jim Yergin Quote
anthonyb Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 Post a picture of your car!!! Nice to see another 41 around here. I have an electric pump on mine but I'd have to look up the specifics. I bought it through 5th Ave. parts in Kansas. They should be listed in the vendor section of the main page of this site. Quote
rlovette Posted November 13, 2008 Author Report Posted November 13, 2008 I'm a little bit challenged when it comes to digital technology--don't own a digital camera...but it's a black...2-door sedan. It was pulled from a North Carolina junkyard in 1970 by my dad..for $100..and has been in the family since. I'll see if I can borrow a digital camera and take a pic. Thanks for the info on the fuel pump. I have a spare pump that I think I'll try first. Quote
Frank Elder Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 1941 P-11 & P-12, 2 models in the same year? Quote
anthonyb Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 Actually three models for the same year. If you count the P11D (Deluxe). It is the mid-range model. Basically a base model (P11) with some of the trim and features of the P12 (Special Deluxe)top-end model. Apparently came out midway into the model year as some dealers were requesting upgraded options from the Special Deluxe line. As ususal, it all depended on what was in the parts bin that day as there were apparently a plethora of different things you could find on them. I've seen different articles that described what a P11D 'should' have and mine has some but not all and it has some that were P12 'only'. Guess that would make them all unique as they came from the factory. Quote
Young Ed Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 Frankie most of the years have 2-3 models. The p15s are actually kinda unique that they are all p15s with either a s or a c instead of different numbers. Quote
Frank Elder Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 Once again I didn't say it correctly, nothing new there huh fellas. Thank you for all the good info nonetheless! Numerical not model, d-24 for 3 years, not d-24& say d-26 in 1 year. That is what I was surprised to see, I thought that every year only had one numeral. Such as P-11 for 1941 I was surprsed to see an extra one p-12. I know there were different cars for export with different trim in the same year such as d-25. Always nice to store another lesson away. Most printers today have scanners built in. So.........if you scan a regular picture into your computer, then reduce the image size (file size), you can then post pictures of your car or anything else on here or other places on the internet. Should be instructions that came with your printer on how to use your scanner, if you have one. Quote
