tankwilson Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 Driving home last night in the rain. 49 Dies on the highway and won't start. Rewired 12v langdon HEI mopar alternator Haven't had a chance to look at it but it seems like an electrical prob. No fuses blown. What you guys think??? Quote
John Reddie Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 It could be a number of things. Where you say it was raining when you had the breakdown, something could have gotten wet. If it starts up ok after it dries out then that is most probably the case. If not, do the old check for fuel and spark. Good luck to you. John R Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 Did you have the hood on or off......... Quote
PatS.... Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 Being that it was raining, I would check the dist. cap for moisture inside and also in the post for the coil wire for moisture in there as well. Some WD40 will take car of it if there is moisture. Quote
tankwilson Posted October 14, 2008 Author Report Posted October 14, 2008 I tried starting it last night... cranks like hell but no start. I am guessing it is something electrical. Acts like no spark. Has Langdons HEI, has ran great all summer. No blown fuses. All new wires in car. I will take a look at it tonight and see. Where would i start to trouble shoot coil or igntion??? Thanks Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 acts like no spark..it only take a second to pull a wire and confirm...check for fuel from there..let us know..then we can start the real suggestion for you problem Quote
greg g Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 my money is on that distributor deal. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 I be thinking the same thing Greg but will give it the benefit of the doubt awaiting his reply Quote
tankwilson Posted October 15, 2008 Author Report Posted October 15, 2008 and the verdict is in. It was the ignition module in the dist cap. I have had this less than a year and it took a dump. Langdon warranty anything like this. Really was easy to fix once i figured out what it was. Up and running now. Thanks Quote
