Guys I have a 1950 plymouth suburban, it doesn't have turning signals. Can I take the same steering column that I have and add the turning signal part at the end of the column. My brother has a 1951 plymouth suburban and it looks like it just sits on the end of the column. I hope

thanks jerry

The factory turn signals can be added to your column. You replace the bowl shaped piece under the wheel with the turn signal version.

Probably ebay or junkyard only kinda part. Some of the NOS parts dealers may have them too.

You can source universal kits fom JC Whitney, NAPA, or on the web from places like the taillightking. They sell for about 20 buck or so. Most cas I see through the mid 50's usually have these rather than factory installed as signal lights were an option till the mid 50 or so. You will need to change the contacts in the bulb holder to a 2 wire set up, you can buy these in a bubble pack from most autoparts stores. You simply swap out the single contact fibre washer in the botom of the socket for the double one and then rewire the parking light circuit then hook up the signal wiring tot he new wires for the other bulb element. You will ned to find non staggered pin dual filamant bulbs for the application also.

The taillightking website has wiring diagrams you can print off also.
