Niel Hoback Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 Alan, does your manual read right to left ? Quote
Allan Faust Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 No, its not dyslexic..... Don't forget I have an export model that was shipped around the world.... that manual came from israel, my new oil pump I got from Istanbul Turkey.... David Maxwell Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 ...and sells for around $35 in NEW condition. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 Yea but... that one shown above is an "Unrestored Original" Quote

Norm's Coupe Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 Yea but... that one shown above is an "Unrestored Original" I've got one just like that one only in better shape with no tears and cleaner. So........mines a better unrestored original so it must be worth at least $25 more. :D I've never used it because I bought it after buying a reproduction manual. I use the reproduction manual when I need to look something up. So.....I'm preserving my "Unrestored Original" so it should be worth a thousand bucks a few years from now. :D Actually, most old car book vendors sell that manual for about $45 to $60 at swap meets, if it's original. Only the repops are $30 and $35. This guy is out of his tree at $99.99. Quote
PatS.... Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 Maybe the price includes a CAR!!!! Quote

old woolie Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 I got mine for a good ol' $30.... plus shipping... from Israel of all places... Allan I bought one exactly like that for 15 dollars at our local flea market. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted August 14, 2008 Author Report Posted August 14, 2008 If you watch ebay for a while, you can also get those Motors Manuals for a reasonable price. I got one sometime back, but don't recall what the price was now. Also have Chilton Manual. There are various manuals on CDs, but I would rather have a book. Quote
Allan Faust Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 I bought one exactly like that for 15 dollars at our local flea market. Thats good because the lowest price I found for that manual (original) was $75 before I found mine at $30... Allan Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 Does that mean you now have a "collection" of manuals???? Allan I suppose you could say that. Have two shelves full in a cabinet about 40" wide in the basement. Even have an original two set factory manual set for my 95 Lumina APV and a parts manual on microfish film to go with it. Quote
Allan Faust Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 Hehe... like I have a collection of ALL auto restorer mags, and most of the skinned knuckles since the beginning.... I just found someone with the "early" stuff.... so my collection will be almost complete.... that is besides my owners manual, my 49-52 service manual, my 46-56 canadian parts manual, and my 1950 export model manual.... Guess you can say I got a collection too... Allan Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 I don't keep many old car magazines, only the ones that had some technical info that I thought I might want someday. Also a couple like this one. Also have one magazine (either Hot Rodder or Custom Rodder, forgot which) from either 1961 or 62. They weren't as large then, more like the Readers Digest size. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted August 14, 2008 Author Report Posted August 14, 2008 I've still got just a few of those smaller mags from the olden days. One of them featured a customized 56 Chevy convertible owned by a high school mate who lived down the street a few blocks. It was candy apple red with white interior. He bought it somewhere all done up....did not do it himself. Don't know where it ended up. Had '57 pontiac chrome trim on the sides. Not too long ago, I bought this January 1952 issue of Motor Trend. The cover pic is a 1946 Hudson sedan made into a custom roadster by a local man back in the 50s. Quote

Bob; I believe my original gear shift knob may reside on that Hudson as I sold it to the lady (the one behind the wheel) who is the owner of this Hudson pictured below. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted August 15, 2008 Author Report Posted August 15, 2008 Don----rather amazing how similar those two Hudsons are. I wonder if there were some plans for building that car published in Popular Mechanix or some magazine back then. The guy from Aurora, MO wrote a book about building his..... One thing he did was trade things with people he knew and have them help with the car. Quote
