  1. All of the sudden out of nowhere my ammeter started doing this, even when the ignition is off, first I thought it was the voltage regulator but it also does it when the car is turned off , it does it until I disconnect the battery https://youtube.com/shorts/Bhv5OiTBVwg?feature=share
  2. Yes there was several different companies that made them, they're very hard to find though especially if you look on eBay, no matter what you type in they come up with 10,000 different results, you can spend all day looking through all the ones they show you, that's why I would like to try and get part numbers from someone that has one
  3. If you don't want to sell them, could you please tell me what the model numbers are on them, so I have a better chance of searching for one, I have another gentleman that says he has a few in a box somewhere in his garage , but I haven't heard back from him yet, I also tried to look up that inliner magazine but couldn't find it, thanks
  4. Any chance you want to sell either one of them, I have another guy looking for one for me right now, I have a 1948 Dodge with the 3-speed manual fluid Drive coupler
  5. 1946 until mid-year 1949 are the same body and the same fenders, the second half of 1949 they changed to the new body style and everything is different
  6. I made sure I got a pretty flexible piece, and I also put enough extra in the distributor to move around without issue, thank you though, it's going to be replaced soon anyway with an HEI unit, I just wanted to make sure it ran good before I dumped a bunch of money into it
  7. Little update, it was absolutely gorgeous today, until now LOL with the thunderstorms and stuff, anyway the car was still having a hard time starting, and I noticed it had pretty weak spark so I took the distributor back out and replaced the wire going from the distributor to the coil, the Old Wire was bare in a few spots and pretty beat up, I also replaced the wire going from the coil to the solenoid, and a few other bare wires, now she has a beautiful strong Spark, and starts right up with a tap of the key, and all the exhaust smoke cleared up from the oil that I dumped down the cylinders, can't believe how nice and smooth she runs, everything seems to work, the generator is charging, the water pump is flowing water and it runs nice and cool, clutch feels good , the only issue I'm having right now is the brakes are locked down pretty tight, they're not frozen but if you let the clutch out the car just stalls, but in reverse it rolls freely and backs up, so my next mission Monday or Tuesday after the rain stops is to back off the adjuster Wheels on the shoes and see if I can get the wheels to roll freely, I'll probably just end up pulling the drums just so I can see how the shoes and everything else inside looks , I hope I can find my big puller, I haven't used it in 3 or 4 years when I was still up in New Jersey
  8. Apparently any points, cap, and rotor from a 1950 or newer Mopar Flathead will work, I ran the numbers and the motor is actually out of a 1957 DeSoto, but for some reason they converted everything back to 6 volt instead of leaving it 12-volt like the 57 DeSoto would have had, so it's got assorted parts from assorted 6-volt Mopars LOL they also left it negative ground even though they converted it back to 6 V, you would think it would be easier just to use the 12 volt starter, generator, coil, and stuff from the DeSoto motor and then just change the bulbs and stuff to make the car 12 volt, and I also don't know why they didn't just use all the 6 volt stuff from the 48, but whatever, at least I know what Parts I have now, and yes I wrote down all the part numbers even though I'm going to convert it to HEI and 12-volt
  9. It's alive part 2
  10. It's alive !!!!! https://youtube.com/shorts/l8mmmDh5Qtk?feature=share
  11. Update, finally got the correct points today, put my distributor all back together, took out the plugs filled the cylinders up with oil, just because I don't know how long it sat for, and I wanted to make sure the Rings weren't washed, cranked it over for a while, put the plugs back in, cranked it over once or twice it fired, but by that time it was dark out, it was raining pretty hard, and my battery was almost dead, so hopefully with a little luck she'll be up and running tomorrow
  12. You are my new hero, they just emailed me back and said they have them in stock, so I called and ordered one for each side, I never found the clip when I had my 47, I ended up making one myself, I am adding restoration specialties to my long list of bookmarked Mopar restoration sites, thank you thank you thank you thank you
  13. If they have it I'm going to order one for both sides, it's funny because I lost the passenger side on my 47 a few years ago, and when I found a replacement they would only sell it as a pair, and luckily I kept the driver side with all my other parts LOL, because it's the driver side that is missing from my new Dodge
  14. Awesome, thanks, I just emailed them with a picture of my old one ?
  15. I was wondering if anybody knew if the trim clip for the cowl molding on a 1948 Dodge/Plymouth was reproduced or available from anyone, I've tried Andy and a few other places that deal in classic cars and have had no luck, a few of them sell the actual molding but not the clip that holds it on
  16. This one is definitely going to be a long time keeper, it is one of the most rust free cars that I've ever owned in my life, I'm originally from New Jersey so I've seen a lot of rust LOL, supposedly this car came from Arizona originally, and it sure looks like it, it's got a bit of surface rust from being baked in the Sun but as far as the floor pans and trunk pan it is the cleanest I've ever seen, even the spare tire carrier, so as long as it runs fairly decent I'm just going to bite the bullet and do the 12 volt conversion, HEI distributor, and alternator, so I don't have to worry about it down the road (hopefully) I even thought about swapping in a modern drivetrain, but I really love the old flatheads
  17. I think that's the way I'm going to go, I already ordered the points so I think I'm just going to stick them in there temporarily, so I can see if this thing even runs and take it from there, I might actually just do a 12 volt conversion and HEI distributor as long as it runs decent
  18. Talking about Clueless, when I bought the car last week , the gentleman I bought it from told me it was all original, and he bought it from the original owners, and that he had ran the numbers on everything, I had a little free time today so I ran the numbers on the engine and it turns out the engine is a 1957 Dodge/Desoto, that explains quite a bit ?
  19. Deep cycle is better than no cycle LOL
  20. I was thinking about that, I was also thinking of just converting it to 12 volt and putting in one of those GM HEI distributors, but I spent $175 on a new 6-volt battery last week, it's amazing how much the price of batteries have gone up in the past 10 months, the battery I bought was a deep cycle golf cart battery, they wanted $290 for one of those red sealed top batteries, and that was the only two options my local store had ?
  21. After a little more research, I'm pretty sure the points for a 1950 IAT distributor will work, at least they sure look the same, I ordered them will find out what happens when they get here LOL
  22. I guess I'm going to call Andy and see what he says
  23. I've rebuilt a few Distributors on flat heads, but it's been quite a while, and I've never ran across this problem, I got my points today and when I took the distributor out to rebuild it, I noticed that the points that were in it where the exact opposite of the points I received, so I double checked with the parts catalog and they all match the ones that I received, and I haven't been able to find the ones I need LOL, I'm guessing that this distributor came out of a marine engine, and it's not original to the car, it's an Autolite BR 4001 and it says splash-proof distributor on it which I don't recall seeing before, there is not enough of the old points left to read a part number off of them, any ideas?
  24. $3000
  25. Okay ready to cruise ?
