  1. Thanks, kind of like a powder coat but different
  2. Thanks for the tip, I'll check some craft stores.
  3. I may play with the emblem with clear and paint added as you described. You can clearly see the copper on the left side of the emblem where a piece of the red has recently chipped off. I won't be using the emblem since there's no indication there was ever one on the Wayfarer. Very interesting process how the colors was originally applied.
  4. Looking from the backside of the hood I can see the tell tail signs of the holes for the letters. Nothing for the crest, so I'm going to say mine never had a crest either.
  5. These are in pretty good condition and had the clips with them also. If you notice I think the center bar on the E might be missing. Pretty clean break if it is, I'm sure there would have been a center bar on the E. I don't think it will be that noticeable.
  6. This one does too, never noticed it until you mentioned it. I got this in a box of other items I bought. These is what I was after but had to buy everything.
  7. Thanks for that bit of info, the D29 cars did have the D O D G E letters on the hood didn't they. Mine have been removed and holes filled.
  8. I'm thinking it's time for me and the wife to go fingernail polish shopping to attempt to find something close. No, I don't know the story about the dot, please enlighten me. :-)
  9. Yes, I've read that it was more of a glass than it was a paint. Looking for ideas for something that may be close in appearance.
  10. Anyone now the colors to use to correctly refinish the hood Emblem from a 49 Dodge. Thanks in advance, Dave
  11. Damn dog, Thanks Plymouth Adams. I also talked to George Ashe son this morning and received basically the same info. He recommended .010 intake and .012 exhaust cold setting. Maybe going a little on the loose side, less chance of burning a valve.
  12. Care to share or is it Confidential LOL
  13. Anyone know what to set the valve lash at cold, manual gives hot settings but not cold
  14. Remove the pickup while you have the pan off because it will be full of crud too. Uncrimp the pickup housing that holds the screen and clean behind it, the screen is easily removed.
  15. Your making this harder than it needs to be, just take what you have to Napa and tell them you need an oil line the size thread you have from your old hose. Tell them the length and they should have them already made up. They are usually a stock item factory made.
  16. If it looks like the just remove the plastic cap and the internals under it.
  17. Why can you remove the plastic vent, can't tell what you have without a picture.
  18. Us a screw drive or pair of pliers and pull the metal cove off the check valve and remove it. Problem solved
  19. And, there called exactly what they are, an oil line hose.
  20. As DrDoctor said, try napa or any well stocked auto parts store. Your big box stores probably won't have what you need. You need to go to a real Parts house or a said a tractor implement parts store. You'll need to know the length hose you need, they use to have them already made up in different lengths.
  21. A can od Sea Foam pored in the gas tank will clean up and deposits in the carburetor.
  22. Earl Edgerton is in Santa Rosa, he has my camshaft for a regrind. Hope all is well with him. The camshaft can be replaced.
  23. Make sure the throw out bearing is sliding on the sleeve and not binding, seeing that the transmission fits up without the throw out bearing in place
