  1. The recessing of the starter in the bell housing was included on 1-8-2010 in a thread about the work being done on this very same engine/car. Facts have likely not changed since then. Snippet from that thread follows: Originally Posted by blueskies View Post I would think so... if I remember correctly, Don machined a recess in his flywheel about 3/16" deep to align his starter to the 218 flywheel. I am also running a 4 bolt flywheel coupled to an 8 bolt crankshaft.

  3. Michael, you already have a solution to this. You posted it yourself. NOS ready to go. No shaving the head(unless you want too) No playing "head" games. (not you) No get it, and find out it isn't exactly what you want, or even with good intentions, does not meet your needs. Head should already be prepped and installed by now:) snippet from an earlier post in this thread: well if no one pans out a head for me, my good friend in Georgia Franky Michell has nos heads for a 218, only issue he wants $295.00
  4. snippet from another thread on this same head subject: Head casting numbers I was talking to frank mitchell and he said the the casting numbers on aaugust built motor should be 1300's or 1400's is he right?

  7. If it is correct internal/external bypass wise, I think the whole problem could be solved by removing the "D" from the present head:rolleyes: I have a grinding wheel that would solve that problem in about 5 minutes;)

  9. Boundary layer air, just like a jet:D

  11. Do it in order. Get your oil. You want it to stay running. You won't like what you hear if you have no oil pressure:eek: Get your spark. Don't need no stinkin' fuel if you got no spark:D Get your fuel. My understanding from a previous post on engine break in is when you get it to start you want to keep it running and get the rings seated.
  12. Put the rotor back in, Joe:eek: Been there, done that. Found it sitting on the battery.
  13. Joe, you are correct. The oil goes to the filter unobstructed. Drains from the filter canister only when there is enough pressure to move the plunger and allow it to drain. EDIT: pic shows flow with plunger pushed to allow flow out of filter canister

  16. one more image like that today and you will go furthur than your corner:D:D
  17. I'm sticking with the "ignore option". Would have worked for both parties. If you don't like MY answer, ignore me:D:D:D
  18. Simple use of the "ignore" option is still a valuable tool. As Greg stated, all threads are "public" once posted. Use ignore and read only what you want to read:) Works for me:D
  19. The rule is 30 days. It was at least a 2-fer. Unfortunate, I like Don, but the man who owns the ball sets the rules for the game. Play nice or don't play. Not likely that you will see all banned members return to participate. EDIT: initial warnings from GTK said 30 day ban for offenders. I do see a 7 day ban was given several days ago.
