  1. Nice car! Engine sounds good. I'll be watching for progress reports.
  2. Let me ask this question. And I'm sure it's been asked before, but I can't find it. Does all body styles of 46 7 8 P15 rear fenders interchange. ie: for instance, can I put two or four door fenders on a club coupe?
  3. This car was stripped by the previous owner probably several years ago, and had been kept inside, but still had begun to start showing signs of rust on the bare metal. So, now we're sanding it again. Using a air powered palm sander. Still a little rust in/on the front fenders that is pitted a little. But with proper preparation, we think we can seal and fill those areas.
  4. Well, we've started sanding her down to see how much is left!
  5. Thanks Plymouthy, Good information to tuck away for when I get to that part. (The rear end). Right now we're concentrating on the body and how much rust we will have to deal with. Maybe I'll find a pair of rear fenders laying on the curb some where!
  6. Good! Now I'm wondering why the Hollander manual is in conflict? I need a pair of rear fenders and wonder how to search for a pair that fit.
  7. Checking for rear fender interchangeability. According to a friend who has access to Hollanders interchange manual, the rear fenders from all 46 47 48 Plymouth Dodge DeSoto and Chrysler fenders will work! Is this correct? I find this information surprising and need a confirmation.
  8. Yea, that's what I'm wondering. This is a fine looking car! Show us some pictures. Wonder if this is what they called the original factory l airwing gray? Let's see some pictures of the car!!
  9. Now we're talking. Hadn't considered this idea. But I'll definitely start searching.
  10. Should have looked it up before I asked. I remember those, but they're kinda scarce now!
  11. Dumb question time! What's a suburban? (in the Plymouth world).
  12. I picked up the car last week that I bought in Iowa. And, while I'm not too surprised, the car has it's share of rust. Someone started and replaced the rocker panels, but it's not a great job although it can probably be saved. It also has the other usual spots of rust on the lower trunk lid and the panel crossing underneath. And the front body mounts also need some work. And this may and most probably is just the beginning. To answer your other question, I can't and won't be doing the work. On the other hand, this car does run well and I was fairly impressed with the way it drives, rides and handles. I do have a competent body man who can do the job, but we're trying to figure a way to do that work without robbing a bank! As a last resort this may end up being a "ratrod", and I'll keep searching for the one I want. I have found one supplier, Plymouth Doctor, in Michigan. And I will order his catalog. Just wondering if anyone used this supplier and knows of any others.
  13. Thanks Plymouthy, What about my last question? Where can I get replacement panels?
  14. I'm contemplating the same project. Would like to see some updates on your build. Also looking for sources for body parts repair sections, ie: reproduction rocker panels, deck panels, etc. Who makes reproduction parts?
  15. I've been researching the do-it-yourself wood graining options also. There is a very thorough set of videos describing this process at this site: http://woodgraining.com/ And they also have the original factory patterns for many early cars.
  16. Show us some pictures of the finished product! I'm entertaining the idea of doing the same thing to my 47 P15.
  17. Just read through the entire thread here. It's fascinating to see all the work you've done and how far you've come on this car. Should be a fine ride when you get her done. Very encouraging to me, since I just bought a 47 Coupe and it will need a complete rebuild. Hope I live long enough! Thanks for all the good documentation. A lot of talent exhibited here!! Nice work.
  18. Yea, I found those also, and they are quite a bit less expensive. I'm wondering what the difference might be.
  19. Looks good Don, Where are the horns? Could they still reside where they were originally?
  20. I like the sound of this. I might just make this upgrade right off the bat! Can you point me to the fan that you used. No point re-inventing the wheel here. What radiator and fan combo is correct for a P15? I went to the Champion site, but not sure which application I need. And a picture would be great!
  21. Sounds good, I understand.
  22. Might be a dumb question, but why did you replace the original?
  23. This is good advice. That's what I want to know anyway, before I change anything.... I need a basepoint before I start making changes. Might put a tach on it temporarily, to keep an eye on engine speed. When I had a 47 the first time around, in 1959, I didn't give any of this any consideration. All I was interested in was getting there. Wish I could remember how it felt to drive it. Maybe I'll find out when I get this one on the road.
  24. Thanks DJ, When I can actually look at the rear end, what numbers am I likely to see on it? (And as you said, that won't necessarily tell me what's inside.) I'll also see how many revolutions the wheel takes to the drive shaft.
  25. Seller tells me there are a lot of manuals to go with the car. We're picking it up next week!
