  1. Oh really? So the rights of everyone else to be able to hear themselves think don't matter then, huh? That's the problem with the world these days, no gives a flip about anyone but themselves and what they want. Grow up, be responsible and for God's sake have some consideration for others.
  2. I've become convinced that I have a split personality. The other one keeps hiding stuff from me!
  3. The intakes will be fine at .010" Exhaust valves get seriously hotter than the intakes.
  4. Same thing with the small blocks. 273s, 318s and 340s all have the same stroke. They finally did increase it in the 360, but it has a smaller bore than the 340. Also, before aftermarket cranks were as cheap and plentiful as they are now, the hot ticket for 340 racers used to be to swap in a crank from a 318 poly engine, believe it or not. They used stronger cranks (steel or maybe even forged steel, I don't remember now) and were a bolt-in into the 340.
  5. Happens to the best of us! And the 201 rods are longer yet. Some day I'm going sit down and figure out some pistons of a more modern, lighter design that could be used with one of these rods to get to zero deck w/o cutting the block. I did this on a SBC stroker I built by using a 3.80" crank and using pistons with a CH for a 3.75" stroke.
  6. Actually the 230 rods are shorter than the 218 rods, not longer.
  7. You weren't testing anything, you were just showing off. And rightfully so, that's some beautiful workmanship!
  8. Yes, there are partially synchronized transmissions, usually they're synchronized in every gear except low and reverse. I just got done going through a '64 Falcon 3-speed that is like that.
  9. These old dashes and interiors are just works of art. And when one has been redone so exquisitely it is something to behold. Is that an old Sun Super Tach? I'm on the lookout for an even earlier Sun with the narrow sweep or an old Dixco of the same type.
  10. Regarding the original question, interference valve angles have been used in engines forever. Your machinist should know just what to do.
  11. I switched to Firefox a couple of years ago at my son's urging. I would never go back. The coolest thing about it is all of the add-ons for personalizing it. I've never noticed any speed issues with it as long as my maintenance is up to date. No different than anything else in that respect.
  12. Teaser! You know we want to see pics. And you also know it's female. As they say, if it's got t*ts or tires, it's gonna give trouble!
  13. Extremely nice car and I like the color. Is it the car's original color?
  14. I'd buy it but I'd have to take out a mortgage for the gas to get it home! That thing is just too cool.
  15. Nice bunch of cars and trucks. I'll take the northern BBQ and the KK donuts, please!
  16. Very tasteful and beautifully done.
  17. That ain't too bad. I'd throw a bid out there if it was close to me.
  18. I think you picked the wrong crowd to expect much sympathy. I remember when I turned 40. Well okay, I kinda remember.....
  19. And speaking of coils, I've seen weak ones mimic a rich condition causing black smoke and plug fouling.
  20. Another large factor in older cars is the lack of a collapsible steering column. I remember seeing an accident as a child in which a woman died in a '57 Ford. The car impacted with the left front corner only and it didn't really look that bad. However it was bad enough to spear her with the steering shaft causing fatal internal injuries.
  21. Good point about the zinc for break-in. I'd let that slip my mind. For the latest on the ongoing oil dilemma, check in at http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/ periodically.
  22. My recommendation would be 10w30 for break-in and then 15-40 Rotella, Delo or other quality diesel oil, given the marginal (if any) filtration systems on these vehicles.
  23. Don't forget too, if you just happen to find an old Sherman tank sitting around, you could score five of these babies at once!
  24. For that price? Of course not, they're good cores or at least one hopes.
  25. I can look it up for you Monday assuming there's still a question. However, I'm guessing the reference to this site's data base will fix you up. Let me know though if you still have a doubt.
