  1. Nice Truck. Its the first one I've seen like mine with the small back widow. Mine is a 50. I see yours needs some turn signals on the fenders. I found these on ebay and love them. They look so cool on the truck and unique i think. Have fun with your new toy it looks great!
  2. Thanks for all the info guys.
  3. So I have a 1950 half ton. Its geared super low 45 mph is about top speed for it. Recently 2 miles up the road I found what im guessing to be a 55 or 56 1/2 ton dodge truck in really rough shape. Do you think it would be geared higher?
  4. Funny note.... This was an old farm truck. they did what they had to keep them running. The oil sump is opposite of what it should be for a truck so "back in the day" they just modified the pan with a hammer for clearance issues.
  5. That's good advice thanks, I have bought from roberts before. I will look for the old post on the pan gasket.
  6. so where would be the best place to buy main seals and oil pan gasket?
  7. In the resources I found this. Does this mean my engine is a 46, 47, or 48?
  8. Our 1950 Dodge truck has a Plymouth engine. When we bought the truck it still had a jasper tag fastened under one of the head bolts. The main seals are leaking pretty bad and we would like to replace them. So I would like to identify what year of plymouth engine this is. Maybe its not possible I dont know. Can any of you experts out there help.? I have included a photo. PI5*36697T
  9. Thanks Guys, I agree I think the spring is defective
  10. Okay, so I have searched the "resources" section about heat risers. We cannot get ours to work properly. We think the new spring I bought is defective. When cold it appears to be hooked up correctly but when hot it doesn't open and the spring seems to get tighter. Any advice? I've read some other threads on the net and it seems there are some defective springs out there.
  11. thanks guys, my line is metal and really small diameter. Its had some sort of repair that looks shady lol at some point and time.
  12. It's been a while since i posted anything but have a quick question: My oil line going to my oil pressure gauge is showing its age. Not sure i want to trust it anymore and was wondering where some of you have bought your replacement? I've searched the forums and also looked online at andy's and roberts. Any suggestions?
  13. What did the 8 cylinder look like?
  14. Another pic of me and the 47. I regret not buying it. Oh well.
  15. Hello All I thought I would share this with you. This past Saturday we went to an estate auction. The only reason I drove 3 hours to get there was to bid on this 1947 Chrysler town and Country. All original not running. The only thing I noticed missing was the trunk latch and air cleaner. Floors were solid with paint still on them under the original carpet. Color was light green with a dark green two tone interior. I wasn't really looking for one of these but what a time capsule! No I was not the winning bidder. It sold for 11,000. One question, The head had "Spitfire" cast on the top. I've seen this somewhere before. What cars received this motor and what was the difference over the standard flat six?
  16. Maybe this will help. We just recently pulled the rear hubs off a 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton. Advanced auto or wherever will rent you a china made puller that will fit the 1/2 ton but it will not fit the 3/4 ton unless you take a grinder to it. I dont know where you get a puller like the nice one pictured above but its probably pricey. We bought the one from the car place for about 30 bucks and had to modify it to work for the 3/4 ton. It is similar to the one above but not as well made and yes we had to heat it up with a torch. We didnt want to and was afraid of damaging the hub but it was not coming off without some heat. The puller was shot when we were done. It worked okay on the 1/2 ton but is not cut out for the bigger trucks. hope this helps.
  17. It was about a 20 mile one way trip. We have an aftermarket switch on the brake pedal. The carpet we put on the floor was preventing the pedal from returning. I think next weekend we may go to the drive in. http://www.belairdrivein.com/
  18. So we bought this tuck in late November of last year. As we were on our way to a Thanksgiving dinner my Girlfriend Kelly said hey look at that old truck over there next to that barn in the weeds. That brings us to today. After much work and the skilled hands of my Dad the 50 is back on the road. This was the first trip where we were really depending on the old truck to get us somewhere and back again. We first thought about going to the local drive in but we opted for a drive to my sisters farm. We loaded up a cooler in the back and a extra can of gas (just in case) and hit the road. We were not braking any speed limits but the trip went off without a hitch. The only thing I noticed was the brake lights stuck on once but that was an easy fix.
  19. So the other day we were installing some carpet in our truck and broke the old shifter knob while trying to remove it. I replaced it with an old white porcelain door knob. The fit was almost perfect. A little epoxy and it was good to go. Sorry for the poor quality pictures but my iphone doesnt do well in low light. I love the patina on this old knob. I'm sure i'm not the first to think of this but thought I would share. Reply with a pic of your shifter knob I would like to see.
  20. We are restoring our 1950 dodge 1/2 ton. Its ready to hit the road but the rear end was making a terrible sound.
  21. Our 1950 dodge truck has a P15 motor.
  22. Hi Fernando My dad and I just took one apart last night that looked as bad as yours. It didn't give up easily.
  23. Yes we are in the process of tearing it apart right now
  24. So we knew there were some "bad" sounds coming from the rear end. We pulled the differential and axles last night to diagnose the problem. Looks bad doesn't it? Axle shafts are different lengths and it appears to have gotten water in the differential at some point. Anyone ever tackled one of these beast before??
