  4. Hey Guys, thanks for all your input and sorry for the different threads I'll keep them in one place per topic moving forward. I'll let you know the outcome.
  5. So old blue (1950 dodge truck) has 3 cylinders with 90 lbs and 3 with zero lbs. Any ideas on how to get the valves unstuck on these three cylinders?
  6. The compression test was the next step for us. When turning over he thought it wasn't drawing much air thru the carb. What is ATF?
  7. So my dad and I have been working on old blue (1950 Dodge Truck) . He thinks the valves may be stuck. Any suggestions on getting them unstuck without taking the head off?
  8. I am just getting into my 1950 pilot house that is not running and need to know if its a positive or negative ground. I'm also curious about the 49 was the 49 a positive or negative ground?
  9. Ok so I just purchased a 1950 dodge truck. The interior smelled terrible I think several raccoons and mice had been living in the cab. We pulled out the seat to wash the cab out and on the bottom was this vent thing. What the heck is this?
  10. So some of you have been following my previous post. I bought the blue truck. Not sure if its a 49 or 50. Someone commented that it had an earlier transmission and that is correct. I feel good that we saved this piece of history from rotting away in a field.
  11. I bought the blue truck. The 53 (green) one I looked at it. It had some real body issues. cab mounts were rusted through. Back panel of bed was missing. Glass broken out of both passenger and driver side. So I went with the blue 49 or 50 whichever it is.
  12. well i purchased this blue truck. it not as rusted out as you would think. Yes the running boards are gone, they were taken off by someone in the past
  13. Hey Jeff If I end up with the truck on Tuesday i'll look into getting a copy. The owner is asking 4200 for the 53 and don't think he is going to budge on the price. Its about a 3 and a half our drive from me so me and my dad are renting a tow dolly and getting up early on Tuesday with hopes its a keeper.
  14. Thanks guys Its so hard to find these vintage trucks. Seems like no one want to sell and if they do they want more than top dollar for them. I am a purest so it has to be bone stock for me. It pains me to see that old '50 rotting away in that field. They are asking 2000 for the 50 that is in rough shape. That may sound high to some but in my area there isn't much to choose from. What do you guys think the 53 should bring?? I know its hard to tell from three photos. The owner says the 53 has an older repaint from years ago and needs front brake work.
  15. Hey Guys Thanks for all your input. Brent to answer your question I have not decided on which truck I want. The blue 50 that I posted earlier needs a lot of work and doesn't run however the motor is not stuck. Then I ran across this '53 for a reasonable price and it appears to be a survivor.
  16. So I am going Tuesday to look at and possibly purchase the truck in the attached photos. The owner says its a '50 and is titled as a '50 But I think is later than that. The rear fenders look different than the earlier models and its also a column shift. I don't have any more photos I just am trying to find out as much as I can before I look at it. I would appreciate your info. Thanks.
  17. thanks for your help,
  18. So this is the truck I looked at earlier today. The owners said it was a '49 but do not have a title. The door plate reads B-2-B (see photo) So its a half ton but is it a '49? What do you think the value is (not running). Let me know what you think. Thanks !
  19. Thanks so much for all your help. I plan on looking at it this afternoon. I may post photos later
  20. What are the features I should look for to distinguish between a 1/2, 3/4 or 1 ton truck???
  21. Hello I'm considering buying a 1949 dodge truck. What are some good resources for parts?
  22. Thank You !
  23. Hey Guys, Whats the best internet site to buy parts for a late 40's early 50's pilot house.?
  24. Thanks, So how would I identify a pilot house with fluid drive?
  25. Were the Pilot house trucks offered with a Fluid Drive? Were these automatic?
