  1. Hey Jeff Well we tried that with our '50 as it had stuck valves also. It didnt seem to work but you know we may give that a try first.
  2. Hey guys, well here is an update. Compression test, #1(100) #2(100) #3, #4, #5,(0) and #6(60) Looks like we will be pulling the Head soon.
  3. So as some of you know I just purchased a 51 B3C. My dad is an excellent Mechanic and we are having some trouble with this one. We have replaced the following: Plugs, Plug wires, Spark Plugs, Fuel pump and lines, Points, Condenser, Rebuild Carb., button and cap. It is still on A 6volt System but we have been trying to start with a 12v battery (12v coil) and It almost starts but never does. It pops and backfires a bit. We checked the timing and its okay. We plan on doing a compression test as we think we may have a valve issue. Any ideas?
  4. Thanks for all the input. I always wondered why Champions plugs are so disliked. They been around forever it seems but no one likes them.
  5. Hey Guys, I have a '51 Express with 6 volt system still in operation. What spark plug should I use? I bought a set of Champion RJ12 but I dont know if this is what I should be using.
  6. Guys somehow posted this twice from my iphone sorry about that
  7. So i went thru a museum yesterday and there was a dodge pickup. Paint was rough but the interesting part was they had it labeled as a 49. It looks like a B3 to me. The one thing i couldnt figure out is it had a window wings. Where these optional? My 50 has them but my 51 does not.

  9. So i was wondering, what year and or models did they stop putting hood ornaments on trucks? My 50 1/2 ton has a hood ornament but my 51 3/4 ton does not. I know ive seen some 51's on the net with them so that makes me wonder if someone just put them on at a later date.
  10. A few more photos for you guys.
  11. So the truck arrived yesterday at my dads, It will be tomorrow before I get out there to really look it over. It is a B3C.
  12. Its being delivered today so i will post more pictures later. I'm hoping its a 1/2 but still a good deal even its a 3/4
  13. Hey Guys, Not sure what the plans are for it yet. My dad and I just got our 50 running. This was parked a few miles from where I work and I haggled the guy down a bit and bought it. Wasn't really looking for one but hard to find straight ones that mostly original. The door tag is nice and clean but the area that had the model stamped was very faint. Soooo not sure if its a 1/2 or 3/4 ton. I found the oil bath air cleaner in the cab. It also still has the headliner.
  14. So this is my new 51. Let me know your thoughts
  15. Thank You !
  16. Our old sending unit is shot and i was wondering how the replacement units which is probably a 6 volt will work with our 12 volt system. Any solutions?
  17. thanks guys
  18. Thanks guys, i dont see any prices. about how much we talking for the renu service?
  19. Hello all My dad and I are bringing back our 1950 dodge truck from the grave. As we expected the gas tank is totally shot. We can find a fuel cell easy enough but I thought maybe someone on here may have knowledge of one that works well or a resource I may not know about. We plan to keep the originally filler neck ect. Thank you!
  20. Thanks Keven i bought the cylinder on ebay,
  21. the switch is okay but we have no key. We bought the cylinder at roberts motor parts which says the cylinder should fit 39 thru 59. So we are sending the part back. So far we have been really pleased with ordering parts from Roberts this is the first problem we have had. Anyone have an alternate resource?
  22. I purchased a new key cylinder for the ignition switch of my 1950 dodge truck. The truck came with no keys. Roberts motor parts sent the cylinder right out but it doesnt fit. They say it should fit. So I am wondering if my entire switch has been replaced at some time? Anyone have a photo of what it should look like?
  23. Well the list is long, Brakes may be the next thing.
  24. So I thought I would post a video of our progress of the 1950 dodge truck. Turns out it had 3 stuck valves and it was 180 degrees out of time plus it needed a carb kit. This is all pretty straight forward repairs but an interesting note. We removed the head the bolts and according to our manual should be torqued once when cold and once when the engine is at full temp. It fired right up and we pulled it out of the shop. We noticed it had a lot of water vapor from the exhaust not smoke. When we did the second torque setting the water vapor went completely away. IMG_1264.MOV
  25. Well we are trying the Marvel Mystery Oil and time will tell. We are waiting on a carb kit from Roberts so we have some time. I guess if this doesnt work we will tear into it.
