  1. Pulled the starter Looks as though the teeth are damaged? I'll open it up this week and check inside. Ive got a rebuild kit from Andy's. Installed new wiper arms/blades along with new cowl lacing.
  2. Looks sweet! Nice color too
  3. Thanks for this picture. I'm opening mine up on the 28th and have my rebuilt kit ready.
  4. My unborn son or daughter haha! Currently 26 with a girlfriend but by the time they can drive maybe all cars will be electric
  5. I also am in search for an electric replacement for my 49 Plymouth coupe. Vacuum unit no longer works and I definitely need wipers with all the rain we get.
  6. looks so good! need to get mine rolling
  7. HELP NEEDED! OK so the car is all ready to start. Car sounds like it almost starts however the starter is cutting out right away and disengaging causing it to free spin. Carb is rebuilt. Good spark. New gas. Starter is 6V running 12V. Original as far as I can tell. Is something worn causing it to pre maturely pull out (insert joke here) Any help is greatly appreciated!
  8. Looks like a great start! Looking forward to updates
  9. 49 plymouth
  10. In the process of rebuilding the carb. If you haven't i highly suggest, easier than i thought and lots of the jets/holes were partially plugged I used these 2 very informative videos \ I was able to get the rebuild kit from a local NAPA for around $20. Nice to have a clean carb again. Good news is i've finally moved into a place with a 2 car garage. However the car is located 2hrs from where i am. Wont be back out to the car until the new year so i hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Updates in 2015!
  11. Drained the old gas out. Did a flammability test and it was absolutely terrible lol Purged out the fuel line. Reconnected the line to the carb and I guess with the cold we've had/ car sitting the carb gaskets are shot and its leaking fuel bad. Ordered a rebuild kit that will be here tomorrow. Next weekend thanks for all your help
  12. Thanks! Working on it this Sunday. Fingers crossed
  13. Whats the simplest way to empty the tank? remove the straps and drop it or lift the car up and siphon the gas out. I noticed there's a plug on the tank but unsure where to get a something that fits the enlarged looking torx plug. Thanks!
  14. I thought i saw somewhere someone doing a rear end swap with one from a 90s ford explorer. The supports for the leaf springs had to be move but other than that seemed fairly simple.
  15. I thought some came with signals. The car never had a heater as the metal knockout is still in place and untouched. Mine is a made to look like Mopar alternator. But for a car from the late 60s/70s. 4 core sounds exessive haha! There not terribly priced at around $200usd
  16. Forget what brand but KMS CAR PARTS is where I purchased them from
  17. Thanks for your help! The car was brought up from California 2 years ago so it is a US car, california special i believe with no heat, seat belts or turn signals
  18. I'm looking for a carter D6H1 rebuild kit. I can find kits for the H2 but no H1. Anyone got a supplier? Thanks!
  19. Out with the old and in with the new New hoses and Clamps just no pictures. Only had time to put in the new radiator, the fit is fantastic! I went with Champion Radiator part # CC4950. Can't complain about the price either. Still having issues with no start, everything appears to be good except the gas. I forgot to put stabilizer in and its over a year old. I'm betting there's lots of moisture. The starter drops out and the car almost starts. I'm going to drain the tank, blow out the lines and have a couple fuel filters on hand. More updates in december
  20. Sweet! Interesting to see the differences between my 49 plymouth business coupe and your dodge version of it. Keep up posted
  21. Ordered radiator today. Won't have much to post until late November. Car should be running in perfect time for the snow haha
  22. I will do that next weekend when I'm back out at the car. Thanks!
  23. Sorry i should of been more specific. The car was up on the lift, passenger rear wheel rotates no issues at all forwards and backwards. Drivers side wheel forwards is fine but after a revolution or 2 it locks up. The car does stop when in neutral and being pushed in reverse. The will a little rocking it will finally be able to move. Any ideas on the no start?
  24. Installed new shocks all around today: Only got pictures of the new back ones. Did an oil change on the diff, judging by the blackness of the oil and the debris around the bolts i dont think the oil has been changed for a LONG time. Im having an issue with moving the car in backwards. The drivers side rear wheel will rotate forwards fine but in reverse it comes to a dead stop after a revolution or 2. Once the car is on the ground you can definately feel it catch but then with the momentum it overcomes the catch. Any ideas? Fill the radiator up with fresh coolant, found 3 leaks on the top tank. Awesome. Ordering a new one soon. Also having another issue getting the car started. Finally re-wire was at a point where i could start it but the new solenoid i purchased was dead! Happy it was not my wiring haha! Some history: Car ran fine and drove until NOV 2013, it was parked until now while the re-wire happened. I put in fuel stabilizer as i knew it would be awhile before it started again. Followed the stovebolt instructions as the car now has an mopar mini hei. Ive got fuel, good spark but nothing is happening other than some backfires, car seems to try to start as it drops out the starter. We tried some liquid fire to get it going but that didnt seem to help. Any ideas on these issues? i'm fairly confident we have the timing correct as we checked about 3 times. Thanks in advance for your help
