  1. I have the hinges. They are numbered on the back ending in 4,5,6,7. Can anybody tell me which are for the right and which are for the left? Thanks, Don
  2. Update I hope to have the firewall done by next weekend and pick a color. I need to get the engine back in this dog. Been really busy with a bath remodel and helping the wife after surgery for a new knee.
  3. Update! Fixed the holes in the doors filled the cowl patch and the left rear quarter.
  4. No. I have been covered up working on everybody else s stuff. I hope to get back to this in another week.
  5. YUP! I have been blowing it out and vacuuming. I didn't weld the sill plates to the floors and rockers and I am glad. I took them off and found a slurry in the rockers. So off to cleaning I went.
  6. No dustless blasting with water as the carrier and ground up glass as the media.
  7. Now for a report on the stripping. Dustless it is. No warping. Really messy. You will see from the last picture all the glass and paint I pushed out in the driveway off of the cement. It will disappear sometime. I liked the job. Did the body dash and rear fenders. I just got done priming. started getting ready at 6am. $600.00 for the job.
  8. Pretty strange because it is nearly the same in both doors. The mobile blast guy will be here at 7:30 am. I'll post pictures after the job is done. I really hope I don't run into any more surprises.
  9. Latest update. The car is ready for the mobile blast man. Firewall is done. Cowl vent is filled. Strange holes found in both doors after stripping and E coat.
  10. Thanks for the info !!!!
  11. In the center of the firewall in the engine compartment at the top are two studs. From pictures of other cars the looks to be a triangular bracket that bolts on under the cowl vent lip. I will post a picture later. Anybody know what it does or is? Thanks, Don
  12. Finally got back to the rear quartes. My pal Scotty made these patches using hand tools and his hands. I am very impressed.
  13. Thanks guys. I think I have this figured out. The pictures really helped.
  14. I have a customers 1955 two door wagon with the flat head 6 cylinder. It has some adapted junk yard radiator in it. They would like an original style radiator. Since I don't have a original to measure can anybody give me pictures and measurements for one of these? No one makes one, they are all special order. I wonder how close a 1950 radiator is? Thanks, Don
  15. The flange yoke will fit the four finger yoke on the transmission. The shaft also is a slip joint unit. The new transmissions don't have a slip yoke on them. They are a bolt on yoke.
  16. Hotwire made a harness for my 1950 Suburban 5.7 project. Very nice work. I needed to buy a forward control module, a 2008 PCM and an abs computer. All these have to be married together and programed to operate. I also had to add a tone ring and sensors to the rear of the transmission. I had to buy a shifter from a late model charger to make the trans work. Then I needed to find a drive shaft from a Ford Ranger and modify it to fit. Then add in Speedway Motors Hemi motor mounts, universal transmission mount kit and Street and Performance block hugger headers. Oh I had to get a rear sump oil pan and pickup, a GM power steering pump and new pulley and put in a Cavalier steering rack. Engine and trans $2800.00. Around $5000.00 to put all this together. Around $7800.00 total. Not cheap but it was what I wanted to do. Don
  17. Here is a picture of mine. I would like to see a picture of yours.
  18. I changed my springs out today. I cut three quarters of a coil off the Aerostar springs. After I put it back together I had a 1/2 inch drop from my original height. I will let it stay this way until the car is all assembled. It doesn't have a radiator, coolant, any of the spash pans other than the inner fenders and no hood. I am sure that it is going to drop more after the springs take a set and the car is finished. I like my stuff low and already have Fatman dropped uprights so I am being cautious.
  19. It's a secret.
  20. It is always a great event with lots of fun people. I have only missed on year since 2000.
  21. I will be arriving Thursday with this.
  22. Interesting. I have ordered a pair of the springs. i will report back on the difference if it is obvious. Probably a wire diameter, weight, length deal. My car still sits about an inch too high for my tastes so rather than cutting the stock springs I will experiment with these.
