  1. do you have electric wipers, if vacum wipers that could be for the wipers but I dont see how you wouldnt have electric wipers when my 52 does. From the looks of it alone I would just replace it.
  2. So I asked this question elsewhere but not getting an answer. Someone has a link for a fuel sender with a claim that it works but the link takes me to a sender of a 10_73 ohm range and my understanding is we need 10_78ohms. Will the 10_73 ohm sender still work within range is my question. The sender is a midern ine that the base can be swaped with the original broken one I have and is more reliable and 35$ over the stock junk senders for 60$. Much help appreciated.
  3. Any word on fuel sender from the link above. My understanding is we need 10_78 but the link is for 10_73 will the 10_73 sender work within our range?
  4. Site says they have a 10 to 73 ohm for early mopar from the above link, does that work?
  5. I need yo bump this as I have a question, I also need a new sender. My understanding is I need a 10to 78 ohm sender. I went to the site from the above link but the range doesn't go to 78 or does the other one work? Help lol.
  6. suprised you would put the fuel filter before the pump since they pull and that put extra load on the pump.
  7. I have not seen an official picture thread for engines and thought it would be a fantastic idea to post pictures of overall engines and close ups of particular so old and new experience can use as a reference if needed plus it may just be good fun to share our pride and joys? It would be nice to keep this flathead oriented. Anyone interested? anyone want to start off?
  8. MAN I love going low because I'm a stance guy but if you are going below the scrub line wich you are most likely all ready at you are playing with fire. I'm more interested with what you did to the fron to get it so lowered that you cant get the rear to match as well because its easier to correctly drop the rear than the front! The only safe way past 2" blocks is air ride my man.
  9. ONE thing I dont have to ever mess with again, 6V optima battery in combination with 6V postitive ground alternator was the best things I have dine for the car other than the added 6V electric fuel pump.
  10. These cars run and steer the best with bias ply tires, you feel like you are driving with a flat with radials due to the steering design. If you have had nothing but radials you would not notice how wrong driving this type of car is with radials, Firestones are the best I have ever used and seen by a long shot! (Besides the fact that radials just look wrong in many ways on cars of this era and pop out as a eye sore for those that know what they are looking at).
  11. could you give me a ball park idea what it cost for a rebuild of a 218?
  12. great job! Did you not get your carb rebuilt as well?
  13. so riddle me this? what happens/what do you do if you bring the timing back to prevent the ping/rough idle but by retarding it it creates the engine to then stumble with no mediun in between? thanks.
  14. you need to toss that ****! Take the advice of others and get the type that has the removable top like I have on my 52 cranbrook, now Napa and Fram do have a filter but have cross referenced it with wix filters and Wix does have a much better filter, fits better than the others and well damn its Wix, think its 51006 but I can double check id you want.
  15. I believe one of the big reasons why car makers made the switch was people kept getting confused on the matter so they made it easier on the consumer. I have heard other sreasons as well. It also surely became cheaper to wire the car needing smaller guage so material cost came down in that aspect. My understanding with positive ground is that it was thought that current flowed more effiecient in such manner but truth me told it flows the same if I remember correctly, someone will surely chime in and educate me and others more.
  16. doing it through the ignition is an option, however you have no control over it if you dont need it. as well if the key is left in the on position without the engine running the pump still will have flow, with the switch its off or on and with the indication light I would have to be stupid not to flip it. like I said though I dont run it to help blast down the road, its just used as a booster for hot/cold starts if needed. something I would recomend for others if they have experienced low fuel pressures under extreme heat.
  17. I did mine with a switch, but as a secondary safety added a indication light to know when the pump is working so I dont accidently leave the switch on leaving the car lol. But I havent had that problem as just like taking the ebrake off to drive. but yes needs to be as close to the tank as possible. its not really going to be needed under most use, however is great if the car has been sitting for a week and you need that pre boost, or after a decent drive and then you need to jump back in 5 min later as a boost for hot starts. one of the best things I have done with the 6v flatty other than the 6v alternator, 6v optima battery and a few other goodies.
  18. just wanted to say I added a 6v electric fuel pump to assist my mechanical pump for hot/cold starts. installed it near the fuel tank, wired it with a fuse on negative side of battery with a hidden switch under the dash with wiring under the carpet and down and out where the electric exits the brake lights. works fantastic! should have done this a long time ago works as a great boost pump when needed.
  19. being switched over to negative ground should not be a problem as long other items that would need to be reversed have been done otherwise someone at some point may have thrown the battery in backwards? check the wiring at the coil and check to see if its positive or negative going to the coil to the distributor to see if other items have been switched to be negative ground.
  20. put this in for fun, runs off a small 12v power wheels battery hidden in the trunk since it wouldn't work off my 6v optima battery for the engine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKnW_6mBIMU&feature=share&list=UUXsSocc7-LbXlTm_kViNdaQ
  21. wish I knew but shes a beauty.
  22. just a question but why are you wanting to add power steering?
  23. looks good, I built something about the same with my 6v alternator now problems.
  24. nothing to add other than hi, travel through Joplin all the time.
