  1. Will the 20 bud wheels from a 1951 2-1/2 ton truck fit on a 1947 wf-32 1-1/2 ton truck? I purchased nice set off a similar year ford wheels.....the bolt pattern is the same and i can use them on the outside duels and front but they wont clear drum on the rear. Just curious if any one knew if there wAs a difference in dodge wheels within those years, as i have a chance to buy a nice set of 51 wheels. Thanks Rob. '47 wf-32
  2. My guess is that quite a good number of the restored cars will make a registry but a smaller percentage of unrestored cars will make it on a registry. My father has 2 wafayer roadsters both non restored but both titled cars and neither is on a registry. He has been trying to talk me into restoring one of them. I think I would need one more donor car and it wouldnt need to be a roadster. I need to finish my 47 truck before i get to serious about that project. Probably my best opportunity at owning a rare old Mopar. Rob
  3. Tim, I will follow the AoK blog for sure. I had the pleasure of meeting you while picking up a cam shaft for a 265 at Carlisle last year. Bumped into you later with a pair of air cleaners off a GMC truck in my hand, couldnt decide to buy or not.....You told me to buy them as they would fit my B&B's. Glad i purchased them. They look great! AoK blog is a great idea. Thanks Rob
  4. My father and I made the 4 hour trip to Venus and spent a few hours with George today. I'm getting closer to transforming my 1947 237 engine in to a dual carb 265. George was gracious enough to give us the "nickel" tour which not only included merchandise but some of his past and current projects. It was a day spent well, with one of the nicest gentleman there is. Rob
  5. ggdad1951, Take a look at the pics. I think top whisker is all there and ouside of the bottom is missing . What else do you need? maybe we can make a bundle deal. door regulators, door handles, glass, vent windows, corner windows, dash,.glove box, knobs hood? Rob

  9. Well grabbed some cash and went back to the junk yard. When I was there the first time my focus was pretty much the engine. Upon futher inspection ...the engine is indeed 103 hp as Bob stated in an earlier post. The lower whisker is missing and grill pushed in a bit. fenders and doors have been patched. running boards look good, windshield good but didn't check out the condition of the frame. corner windows good, cracked glass in one door, both vent windows ok, window regulators and door latches should be ok.. dash looks complete and in decent shape . Hood looks very nice, wipers gone but assembly should still be there. I will try and figure out how to attach some photos. Bottom line I didnt buy it. Yes I'd like to have a 251 engine 5spd, but I don't have to have it for my 47 WFX. I do need a set of fenders for it...... If there was that one big ticket item like the whiskers or a really decent set of doors I would have bought it on the spot. Probably a couple hundred bucks in glass and gadgets and another 150 in scrap. Going to hold off a bit. Going to look at a 48 or 49 wrecker maybe this weekend. Rob
  10. You guys are too funny. Going to try and get back to the junk yard this weekend.....dont want to drag my feet to long. The old guy crushed 300 cars last summer. That truck was the only vehicle left in that half of the JY. I love old junk yards but they are becoming scarce around my neck of the woods. Thanks Rob
  11. I just did a bit of looking on the big auction site. It does appear that I should be able to recoupe the $$ in just the grill, doors, windshield, and wipers. Heck, If I can find a home for the knobs, running boards, and gauges.etc. ......I might have a few bucks to go into my project. Thanks Rob
  12. Well......guess I'm gonna have to make a trip back to the junk yard. I may not have looked close enough at the plate as far as hp is concerned. the serial # was 82820642. model was B3JA128. I ran the sr # through the t137 web site and it came up a 1951 with either T-318 or TX-318 engine (251). And yes its a dually. My truck (1947 WFX) doesn't have the original rear in it. It should have not had a 2spd rear and year correct would have not had a lever to engage it , which it does. That being said, that 5 spd(2sp rear combo) would be an upgrade over my 4 sp (2sp rear). If indeed i misread the hp on the plate.....I would only be gaining 10 or 12 hp. Not sure it is worth the effort and $$$. How much different are the cab parts, doors, hood, etc from the smaller trucks? Reason I ask is there is alot more people looking to restore the smaller trucks and I might be able to recoupe a few bucks in parts should I decide to buy it. Guys Thanks for all the help. Rob 47 WFX
  13. engine code is T-118 I think. it might be t-117 can't recall for sure without double checking. What is hollanders? web site or older publication? I think the 236.6 , 265, 251 all used an 8 bolt fly wheel read that somewhere but don't know for sure. In any case, thaks for your help. My GVW is 15,000 lbs the original owner hauled coal and the slips in the glove box confirmed 17,000 lbs loads with only 87 Hp....must have been slow going. Thanks Rob 47 WFX-32
  14. I know this a Pilot house era forum but my question refers to a 1947 WFX truck engine. I posed this question in a 39-47 truck forum with no reply. There seems to be a bunch of flathead knowledge here so here it goes. Can my 236.6 (25 inch engine, same bore as a 251 and 265 just shorter stroke) be rebuilt with a 251 or 265 crank and shorter rods to increase the stroke and gain some HP? I know it is 1/4 inshorter than a 251 and 1/2 shorter than a 265. Anyone have any experience with this? My engine is rated at 87 hp currently. While searching a junk yard I found a 1951 dodge truck (B3JA128) 2.5 ton truck in very nice shape. It either has a 251 or 265 rated at 137 hp. Can buy the whole truck for a $1000 but the condition of the engine is unknow other than it is not stuck. Just trying to figure out what my best route would be to gain a bit more hp. That motor would give me 50 more hp.......should be a big difference on the hills. Thanks Rob 47 WFX
