  1. Yes went with the diagram pretty straight forward .
  2. I have a ford 9inch rearend it has large brake shoes the proportioning valve is gm disc front shoe rear.
  3. I cut 1/2 inch off tie rod and tube and she lined up nice. the bummer was even with my new proportioning valve my rear brakes lock up way before my front disc brakes. so now I ether adjust my rear off a little or install a manuel rear adjustable pressure valve. anyone else have this problem if so what worked for you thanks. Neil PS Steve it was nice to meet you and your wife hope you can use the brake parts and good luck with your truck.
  4. steve c you can have my old brake parts just call me I left you my phone number. Neil
  5. When you cut the tube did you do both ends or just one?
  6. thanks for all the input it would have been nice if they talked about it in the directions. So that is what I will do tomorrow and hopefully I will be driveing my truck tomorrow it's been awhile and can't wait to see how my new brakes feel. Looks like I will not have a need for any of my old front brake parts if anyone has use for them they can have them for free just pay shipping shoes are thin and one wheel cylinder was leaking but the other parts looked good. just let me know. Neil
  7. well i guess I was not alone but I don't see how cutting the tie rod would help mine are bottomed out so cutting the tie rod would not make it go in any further.
  8. I just got new tires today I will bring it to an alignment shop but it's not even close right now and i don't want to smoke my new tires still need to bring in the tie rods a little more.
  9. Well today I got my rusty hope disc brake kit all done but the caliper bracket sits between the steering arm and the spindle so both steering arms are inboard about 3/8 even with my tie rods all the way in it looks like they need to go in a little more has anyone else had this problem? If so what did you do looks like I need to shorten the drag link and retap don't want to do that. I am sure I am missing something or I would have heard you guys talking about it. Thanks Neil
  10. I now have working power disc brakes now I have to get the frontend lined up. Was getting ready to torch that sucker.
  11. bleeders are faceing up on the caliper . I'll put my wife to work as the brake peddle pusher and try it the old fashon way. Neil
  12. I just finnish up installing a rusty hope kit on my b3b . I got one of those harbor freight one man brake bleed tools the one that runs off of air just can't seem to get the air out of the lines I will get someone and do it the old fashon way and see if that helps. I did have one line leaking but I fixed that if you can think of something I might have missed please let me know thanks . Neil
  13. I just did mine with McVeigh's I am waiting for them to make a batch of rear springs for the price of new at McVeigh's it's a no brainer.
  14. If your truck will not run they will come to your home .
  15. I live in nc when I came down from mass. they came to my house to look over the truck I think they did it to see if vin numbers matched or were not messed with had nothing to do as in a safety inspection.
  16. I don't know the ratio ford 9 inch rear end I don't have an old flat head ether . I took it up to 80 once just to see what it could do lots of wind noise . Old amc 258 motor .
  17. Just wanted to add I changed the rear end on my truck it can do 70 easy just can't stop or turn very well.
  18. this week I am doing front springs king pins and rusty hope front disc kit with power booster and propotioning valve. I hope with all this work I will feel more relaxed when driveing. Lots of new homes being built near where I live which means I have seen a lot more traffic. That takes out all the fun of driveing my truck. I will be getting rear springs and lower the truck just a little. For the guys that have done what I am doing now do you feel ok on the highway at speeds of 70?
  19. well got my front springs in today nice springs but I had to dremmil out the eyelet out some and even than it was tight going in but they look like nice springs and made in the usa.
  20. all great idears thank you I'll find this out when I take it apart but do i put the left hand thread part of the shackle in the spring or in the truck.? thanks Neil
  21. yes the shackle fits it is the bushing that is too big. Neil
  22. thank you for the reply the shackle that I have will not fit ether end of my new spring the thick part of the shackle will not fit in maybe if I forced it think I would have to hammer it in even still don't think I could get it in I will take my old one out to compare. thanks again . Neil
  23. I am doing the whole front end on my 51 b3b and my front springs came in today I try to put the new shackle into the new spring the loop end was too small for the shackle to go into. I have seen a video on how to remove the rear springs are the front removed the same way? The spring has threads in one end loop and nothing In the other end the shackle will not fit into ether end of my leaf spring I guess I will have to take my leaf spring out of my truck to compare .Like I said just wondered if the fronts come out just like the rears on the youtube video ? thanks Neil
