yeah, the skirts look 'off' because of the angle between the front and rear lower corners of the wheel opening. if they were 'straight' across they would be perfect. -

Excellent! great profile. i love the rear window choice. good call on not frenching the headlights. woulda made the front end look like a lump of clay. now if it was just a couple of inches off the ground it wouldnt look broken. -
if you can find oil absorbent (rice hull or the like) start with that. cover the spot and let it soak up. sweep that away and use a little powdered laundry detergent and a stiff bristled brush. done. for general maintenance i use simple green straight out of the container. pour it out on the floor, lightly hose it down, scrub vigorously with a stiff nylon bristled broom (home depot). follow it up with a floor squeegee. works pretty good. having polished concrete helps.

I posted a while back for some stuff that i needed for my 48. i got a PM from BIll who had most of what i needed. he lives not too far down the road so i went down to pick the stuff up this morning. now, i've been doing this my whole life, but this is my first p15. Bill took the time to explain a bunch of stuff and show me all the cool details on his car, gave me some great references, let me crawl under it and take some much needed measurements. i'll never lose appreciation for a guy taking his time to show and explain, when he coulda just put the stuff in a shipping box and let me figger it out for myself. Thanks Bill, and all the other guys on the board who have been so very helpful. Great People, Great cars, Great board.

what you want is whats important. if you want a dead original interior, i couldn't help, but there is a place called ezboyinteriors.com that has a ton of patterns. not sure on our models, but worth a shot.

Follow along... if there's anything i've learned its that you can never expect to get any more for a car than market value for a stock type vehicle no matter how much work has been put into it. the work may help or hinder depending on audience, but never bank on more than a stock car would pull. THATS why i asked the way i did. thanks, but i didn't ask scruffy for advice on what to do or you for that matter. but its the innernet so i'll get everything but what i asked for. i think this thread has turned into "nothing to add, talk to hear yourself talk" if you wanna be helpful, just answer the question. if you cant answer it, then move on. thanks.

actually, you have no idea. my goodness. the innernets is amazing. it has the ability to turn a simple question asked in plain english into a completely unnecessary production full of things that have no bearing on the question at hand. all i asked about was the potential value of a particular automobile. i never asked for advise or validation from a bunch of complete strangers. i purposely left the value of my bike out of it for this exact reason. all i needed was an opinion for a bunch of guys who i thought were up to speed on the market for old plymouths. if i was mistaken, then my bad. out of all the responses, i got one straight answer and another that went a little beyond. thanks guys for at least answering the questions that was asked.

i didn't say i have no interest in it, i said i don't NEED it. he hasn't been trying to sell it, he just offered to trade it. can we please just stick to answering the question?

i'd say my bike is worth $6k. the car in question is stock drivetrain, converted to 12v, rewired, new master cylinder. needs interior but is complete although it has a different split back front bench in it. has new tires and custom work has begun (which i woulda done anyway.) has leaking wheel cylinder.

i have no idea what its worth as a basically stock car. as i said before i'm not up to speed on the plymouth values like i am on the makes i have dealt with for the last 25 years. i know what it would run in my shop to do the work thats been done, but that cant always be factored into the price of a car. sure i've looked at ebay and craigslist. i also buy and sell cars as a lifestyle and i know that ads represent the sellers hopes, and aren't necessarily reflective of the actual market. Thanks barrett jackson. lets forget about evaluating the worth of the car in question. maybe i should ask this way... so if the car was an all stock running driving car that needed a little work (interior, paint, maybe go through the brakes) what kinda bux would it pull? what about a nice complete presentable driver? you know, you're average 10 footer... you guys have probably been involved with these models a heck of alot longer than i, and that's why i'm asking here. if i take the trade, it wont be for keeps so i need to be realistic about what the market is for these vehicles so that i don't wind up upside-down on the deal. i know what my bike is worth on the open market, but i'm sick of looking at it and i cant put my wife on the back of it. so a car that i don't need is much more useful to me than i a bike i don't need. but if it means taking a loss, then i'll just go out and polish my bike.

edited my original post to make it more clear. i already own one. i paid what i thought it was worth. i'm contemplating the value of an entirely different car based on actual market values and conditions.

i bought the one i own at a price that was worth it to me because i knew how far ahead i'd be based on the work that was done so i'm not asking about the one i already own..... but i'm new to these so i have no idea like if it was a 52 chevy. reason i ask is a guy contacted me about trading my shovelhead for ANOTHER 48 p-15 special deluxe club coupe. the car is basically stock (drive train) and complete it has some custom work (molded rear fenders, shaved trunk and rear lights, all of which i woulda done anyway, and different bench seat.) the car is rewired in new cloth covered wire and converted to 12v, also notched and lowered out back. needs interior but its all there (seat frames, headliner bows, garnish moldings, dash, etc.) so if the car was an all stock running driving car that needed a little work (interior, paint, maybe go through the brakes) what kinda bux would it pull? what about a nice complete presentable driver? you know, you're average 10 footer... i dont need another car, but i also don't need the harley. i know what i would trade it for if it were a ford or chevy, but i'm still green on these. thanks for your input.

ok. so the guy who built my car (48 special deluxe club coupe) removed the rear bumper and built a filler panel between the rear fenders. i need to fix that. i bought bumpers, brackets and valences from a member here so i have the pieces on the way to do it, but i need some references. what i need if possible are good pics of a car with the rear bumper removed and a vertical measurement of the the section between the trunk lid and the valence. also, how is the valence attached? i would guess that there is a 90* bend in the panel under the trunk with holes for bolts, but since i dont have the valences here or a stock car to reference, i could use some details, pics. granted, my car is going to live its life as a custom, so being a perfect stock restoration is not necessary, but i still want everything to fit right. maybe a pic with just the bumper removed but the valence and brackets in place? what every you can offer in the way of pictorial assistance is greatly appreciated. thanks

cranking and running are two different animals. remember, an engine is little more than a self firing air pump. at low RPM (cranking), the 'suck' will be far less than when running (piston speed). depending on engine specs, (particularly cam profile, etc.) the suck at cranking rpm might be almost unnoticeable. i would not run an engine without an exhaust manifold for any length of time, but i know people who have done it. hope you get it figgered out!

i'm pretty sure i've seen foam tool organizers like that. would be a simple deal to put together. nice application and execution. two thumbs up.

yeah, those have been out for a while. pretty awesome i think. street rodder mag used one for their road tour 2012 car, built by hollywood hot rods. so now you can buy a new all steel mustang, 40 ford, model a ford, model b ford, 55-57 chevrolet, 67-69 camaro, and not sure what else. pretty freaking cool.
