  1. I did not check the rating of the pump but I bet it is the best part of 15 amps that being said...all I did was rewire the plug from the pump because it was melted, reset the tripped 15 amp breaker and plug the pump back in, It has been on for several hours now and does not feel hot so I still have to think the timer was the culprit, mabey corrosion on the contacts inside or something. There didn't appear to be any damage from the critters. as you can see from the pictures there is not enough of the timer left to study it. I plan on contacting the manufacturer to let them know.... I would hate to see someone loose there house because of one of these, perhaps they could offer a suggestion as to what would cause this to happen. Jim
  2. Good to hear everyone had fun.. Jim
  3. If you have outdoor timers on anything you might want to try something else. we had one hooked up to our pool pump for the last few years and I always thought it was the greatest thing untill today when it caught fire under my deck and proceded to catch the deck on fire....thank god we were home and out in the back yard when this happened.
  4. Has anyone had any luck shrinking metal? I have a section on my fender that is streached and if I could get it to shrink a little it will make for a lot less filler. Thanks Jim
  5. Hi Greg All of the comments you heard were justified, I got to see it up close and personal.....I would have missed it but a fellow that I just met asked me if I seen the engine in this mopar and when I said I hadn't he actualy led me over to it...I was looking the whole car over when I finaly realized it was Howards car. Jim
  6. I have a few spots of deep pitted rust that I have cleaned off with a sanding disk, most of it is gone but of coarse there is some left....I know that there are some rust "killers" out there has anyone used this stuff ? were you satisfied with the results? what brands did you use? I would think you would paint this stuff on the bare metal and once it dries I could spot puddy the area, smooth it out, prime and paint but that is only a guess< Jim
  7. The one I put in my Chrysler was Federal-Mogul #473240 Hope this helps. Jim
  8. Speaking of front fenders...how big of a deal is it to remove the whole front end? fenders,grill...etc. Jim
  9. That tears it.....I was sooo undecided about chopping my 50 because it is such a clean straight car and even though I am a big chopped top fan....(chopping or helping to chop everything in sight including a volkswagon rabbit) I thought I would leave this one alone. Now I am afraid that if I don't do something drastic I will be roped in with the narrow minded errogant asses that someof these squeeker guys are. I can't understand how someone who spends way too much money restoring a car to put on a trailer behind there new truck can even consider themself car guys anyway....cars drive not ride. All they had to do was tell the fella he is in the wrong place and that he should read there rules and in the spirit of helping your fellow man direct him over here. Man that stuff makes my blood boil Jim
  10. I had 2 low spots where someone....you could probably guess who, got the panel too hot when welding in a gas tank filler door and it shrunk the metal around the area. I have it bumped out pretty good it's kinda looking like a bruised apple at the moment. I have never had much to do with hammer and dolly work but I kinda like it. The bench I am working on is not the best I will try the sawhorse set up tomorrow. Thanks. Jim
  11. Has anyone been able to successfully do bodywork on there fenders while they were off the car? How did you support them so the were not flopping all over the place? Or is it best to do the bodywork on the car and remove them for paint? Jim
  12. The thought of fixing it did cross my mind but after some investigation I found what there is very little to weld to, the sub-frame idea crossed my mind as well but sounds like I would have alot of trouble finding a good one and it is a fair amount of labour that my 50 would be missing out on...I can only spread me so thin. Looks like I will have to pay the piper this time. Thanks for the suggestions. Jim
  13. I got the news today...it's terminal. I sent my 1999 Geo in to get a fuel leak repaired and was told when I went to pick it up that they did not fix it and The mechanic had something he wanted to show me. there is a hole in the frame of the car in the front suspension..a big hole....like he didn't think it was a good idea for me to drive it home kinda hole, anyway I can't belive how much that it bothers me, it was a $13,000 (cdn) throw away car that I have put 206,000 km's on without any out of the ordinary repairs. it owes me nothing. So here I am online shopping for a replacement car and curious..if you were looking for a new daily driver that was cheap and fuel efficient what would you be looking at. keep in mind this is for a 30 min 1 way trip to work car the only option I want is an FM radio, thats as creature comfort as it needs to be. Jim
  14. ...it makes me curious if one follows the bear around long enough, could he eventualy collect enough pieces to put a whole motorcycle together?...I hope I don't find a helment. Jim
  15. I am not sure about now but Wayne would have had no problem leaving a sample on Sunday morning....the moisture content would have been credited to your fine American beer. I can't imagine that a deer left that behind, I have deer hunted for a long time and never come across sign like that before I would have trouble beliving a moose left it either but as for helping to identify the donor I am at as much of a loss now as when viewing the item live. Jim
  16. We had an fantastic time at the nationals car worked good all the way there and back just a blown tail light. It was great to meet some forum members such as Lenny from chop shop customs and Greg G was a fantastic host even though we did not have that much time to spend together...you always have a friend north of the border Greg. I did get to see Howards car there (pic below) very nice car I bet you can't wait to get it home Howard. Here are some pics if anyone is intrested. Jim
  17. Greg....I blamed Wayne for that all the way home but he wouldn't admit to it. Jim
  18. Thanks Greg Jim
  19. Thanka Greg Jim
  20. I will make it a point to get over to see you Lenny. 4 more sleeps. Jim
  21. I'll be there...but my car won't, I will be in a chopped, flat black 37 Chev. Jim
  22. Hi everyone: I was wondering if anyone was going to the Right Coast Nationals in Syracuse July 18th weekend? Jim
  23. Golf bag door Ha Ha Ha!!!!! There is a matching one on the other side....aside from the floors this is the only only place that I have had to patch this car. I like the color that is on the car now but whenever I get around to painting it the color will be black it was kinda like a family vote.....I was the minority. as far as the shifting goes, I started out in low range let the clutch out slowly while pushing on the gas once I got moving (speedometer is not hooked up yet) I let off on the gas and heard some grinding along with a crunch into second gear. I then tried in high range accelerating to what I guessed to be 25 mph then let off on the gas and heard some grinding along with the same crunch only this time the car quit?? I was able to start it up again after pouring some gas in the carb?? then drive it up to the house to wash it and take some pics for everyone here to see. I have not set up the idle, I have not checked the timing, I have rewired the car. I am wondering if I wasn't accelerating too hard and did not give it time to shift? Thanks for your questions Jim
  24. Well here are some current pictures I was able to get it out of the shop and drive it across the road to my sons and back....seems to be an awfull lot of noise coming from the fluid drive when the gears are changing, perhaps I got some wires wrong on the solinoids or I just need to learn how to drive with a fluid drive definately gonna require a second drive. Jim
