47PAnnie, If you will e-mail me, bdf554@charter.net I will send you pictures of my Deluxe dash I have just refinished. Have a pretty good shot of a complete dash. Don't know how to post pictures or I would post them here. Probably need some 9 year old to show me how.
I have just finished my 47' P15 Deluxe and the original seat and door trim was maroon. I have a friend with a original P-15 and it is maroon. I have never seen an original that was not maroon, P-15C or P-15S. Let me know if you find the 1/4'' stripe material. David Maxwell said the P-15C material was sometime used in the P-15S. I used the P-15C material from LeBarron Bonney. The P-15S is stitched different from the P-15C.
Tim, the town sedan is a good looking car. I have never seen one. Did it have a longer wheel base than the regular four door? Finish your town sedan and come see me and show it off.
Were town sedans only in the Dodge cars? Were there town sedans in the P-15's? Thanks for the pictures I have never seen a town sedan before. Nice cars.
I was thinking all the time that pan had to be cut. Steve I appreciate the pictures. Would it weaken the seat if a three sided notch was cut out of the pan instead of a notch out of the pan? I am not at my car now so I am just guessing. Again I can not tell you guys how much I appreciate the forum, all the answers are here just waiting to be shared.
Has anybody put front seats belts in a P-15 four door? How do you get the belt thru to the floor? The area is solid where the bottom seat and the top seat come together? I just wondered if you had to cut this area?
Stoped by a Rod Shop this week and saw something very unusual. The guy had a very nice '48 Chrysler with a in line 6 in it. It had dual carbs and the engine was dressed out but I had never seen a Ford engine in a Chrysler. To each his own.
Did a search to see what oil pressure you guys a getting. I just restored my P-15S and did not do anything to the motor. The car has 75K miles, starts and runs smooth, does not smoke but uses a quart of oil about every 500 miles. We did see that the head had been off, maybe a overhaul. My oil pressure is 60 which I think is good. Do you suspect a bad oil guage? What is normal?
Not all blackout cars were the same. As the manufactures were fazing out the chrome and stainless, you may find partial blackout models. Some had chrome bumpers and the rest be blackout , others may have some trim stainless and the rest blackout, and some of the last and the cars that were made for the military were total blackout.
Where did the trunk mat come from? I need one and cannot find any one who has them. I store my jack and lug wrench about the same way. Did the P-15 come with a bag or does anyone know how the jack was stored?
I used the number he had posted in the Plymouth bulletin and talked to him about 4 weeks ago. He said he had sold out some time ago and would not have any more.
Have completed the restoration on my '47 P-15S. Drives out good. Will be putting on new shocks soon and getting some play out of the steering. The gas mileage is about 10 MPG. Thought I remembered getting about 14 or 15 MPG. The car runs smooth , no hesitation, no smoking like it is running to lean. What do I need to do?
I have a brace for my 47 P-15 and the rear of the hood still has a big vibration and space at the rear. It does not lie down on the strip that goes across the cowl. Do you have that space and does the rear of the hood meet the strip across the cowl? I took the hood off and can't remember if I had that space and vibration before.
