  1. Who can keep up with all your purchases? I thought you were talking about the COE......there were F rated COE'S you know. I am so confused. Glad all I want is one decent old truck....... Jeff.
  2. Sorry I was under the impression that it was delivered to you a while back. Sometimes postings here are a bit misleading. Jeff
  3. Mark; Just a thought.....did you check with the people who delivered it to you? They may have an actual scale weight? Jeff
  4. Ralph; It does sound like you have a mismatch in the fittings. I struggled with this on my engine a couple of years ago. If you can remove them and post some close up photos perhaps one of us can make a suggestion for a fix. There are or can be at least 3 similar thread patterns here that will seem to fit but certain combinations will not seal......no matter how you tighten them. Jeff
  5. Next time I go to Pomona I am going to take a real camera. I am pretty certain there is enough rust and patina (faux and real) there to send Plymouthy and some others screaming off into the hills. I definitely like the well worn look more than a show quality paint job. Surely it is more appropriate on an old work truck than fresh paint? I wish I had had enough of the old paint to go this route. I really like the way this one looks. Jeff
  6. That is cool. Been wondering where you were at with it. I would like to see some more shots of it. Jeff
  7. I called their Tech group before I placed an order. There are so many variants I felt this was the safest way to be certain I got the correct set up. Installation was a breeze. One of the main reasons I switched over to an ignitor was the way the points were holding up. I tried 3 differents sets along with 3 or 4 new condensers. I just didn't like the way they began to look. Jeff
  8. My bad. Spelling aside there are a few around the area and listed on C/L. It is how I found mine. Jeff
  9. Tim; Well what else would have caused this? It is certainly very odd but about the only other thing that makes a hole like that is a cutting torch ? And why would somebody do that ? I can imagine that if it was running when this happened.....it didn't run that way for long. No matter where the metal wound up. Definitely a weird one and a photo that should make the wall of shame. I for one never liked these heat risers. I removed the one on my truck a while back. I had a welder buddy seal the shaft holes and made a SS plate to go between the manifolds for a bit of extra insulation. It runs fine without the darn thing. Jeff.
  10. There are a few for sale up in your area on C/L.....Calabassas. Don't know anything about them but one looks fairly complete. Have fun; Jeff
  11. Phil; I have been wondering why all the new carputers that pull up next to me die? I thought it was just from shame or envy. I may just have to put those solid core wires back on. Jeff
  12. I wouldn't be so sure about that. Judging from the photo the metal got to a molten state. And there must have been one heck of a backfire at some point during that event. I think I would want to be certain about the internal condition of the engine before I went much farther. Jeff.
  13. That heat riser must of been stuck for a long....long time. I would be concerned about where all that metal went. You might pull the head for a look-see before looking for a replacement manifold. Jeff
  14. No worries.......get to feeling better. That is an order!!! In the meantime I swapped in a set of silicone wires I had. Jeff
  15. In your first posting you mentioned your radiator was boiling over. I know you have an infrared but have you tried checking the water temp with a cooking thermometer ? Another thing to consider ....... what shape is the water distribution tube in ? If it is stopped up or the rear cooling jackets are full of crud it is just possible that you have a much higher temperature at the rear of the engine.....where the tempurature probe is located. Jeff
  16. Looks like they did use those windows......but did they make a pickup? Jeff
  17. Well I don't know what else it could with those rear windows and the indents in the sheet metal. Old photos like that don't always show the subtle details too well. Hopefully you will find a few more photos. Jeff
  18. Pretty sure it is a pilothouse. Maybe there was some body work done? With that low bed perhaps the rear of the cab sustained some sort of damage ? I know the low beds have their fans but I think they just look totally out of scale with the cab. Sure does in this photo. Jeff
  19. Don't worry of the many things I am....a thief isn't one of them. Besides mine is worn but legible. And I did manage to snag a NOS Panel switch and knob so it is all good. There is still a few "goodies" out there if one is patient. One of these days I will have to post some photos of the "as new".Carter carb I got. Boy is it nice to finally have correct one.....without any wear. Makes a world of difference to how well the truck runs. This engine is not nearly as cold blooded (as it always has been) since swapping this out.. Jeff
  20. I am inclined to agree with you.Mark.....a near mint condition or NOS choke knob is probably the Holy Grail of all these knobs There may be some out there? but I have never seen one. Jeff
  21. I modified the drivers side of my dash for an instrument panel the same size and position as the glove box door. I wasn't ever going to put a radio in so I got a little crazy...... Jeff
  22. Doug; I have not come across any reference material that said anything about not using solid core wires. Where did you see this? I have been using them without any ill effects so far....... but I have been known to make mistakes too. Thanks , Jeff
  23. Bob; The standard spark gap is .035" for a resistor type plug. Are you saying that going to .040" is going to make that much of a difference? I can't really see it jumping up that much for such a small change in the gap. And Pertronix does not advocate any larger gap than this. I do think that fitting something like an MSD unit with an expanded spark duration would likely result in something like you describe. In this case the Pertronix coil is only 30000 volts so it is a fairly mild modification. Jeff
