  1. I have a nice, used, original Mopar muffler that I took off my 49 when I installed the dual system. You can have it, although the cost for shipping might make it impractical.
  2. I have a couple of good front drums which are 10"x 2 1/4". They are mounted on front hubs with rivets but if they are the same drum could soon be removed from the hubs. It seems to me the front and rear shoes are the same.
  3. Happy Thanksgiving from Toronto. Spent the weekend at Pumkinfest in Port Elgin Ontario where the weather was more like mid July than early October. Had some 1200 cars at the show on Saturday. I took several photos of many and assorted Mopars which I will post if I can figure out how to do it. Enjoy the turkey etc. Cheers Gary
  4. I've been running my 6 volt R10 on 12 volt for 2 years and have had no problems. It works great wiring doesn't get hot just doesn't seem to matter. Having said that the motor and trans are coming out this winter for a freshen-up and at that time I will replace the solenoid with a 12 volt unit and probably the starter also which is still 6 volt. Cheers Gary
  5. Toronto Ontario Canada, and lovin it.
  6. What was the Indy car that you were looking at?
  7. If anyone is interested their is an Offy intake on ebay. Item # 250165697377
  8. Help. For the life of me I can't remember how to start a new thread it's been so long since I've done so. Please point me in the right direction.
  9. I cut one out of an old leather belt. It worked fine.
  10. This car belongs to a good friend of mine who is also the president of the car club I belong to. It is a very nice ride with a Volare front clip and 55 tail lights. The owner is facing some serious health problems at the moment and always seems to end up with a lot more quality" Mopar only" rides than places to keep them. He recently sold a 33 Plymouth street rod that he built several years ago and a real nice 69 Dart convertible. He has a lot of bucks in that wagon. Cheers
  11. I found out the hard way that when the guage on my P18 says that you have 1/4 tank you better be real close to a service station, I was shy about 500 yards. Now when the guage says 1/2 full I top it up.
  12. I have the Pertronix set-up on my P18 and have had no trouble with it. The car is now 12 volt neg. ground and as suggested by the manufacturer I also used their coil and wire set. I found the best way to get the right parts is to phone them and give them the number on your distibutor and the voltage you are running.
  13. 39 gets my vote also.
  14. What were the 331 and 413 c.i. sixes used in? Are there any specs on these on the web? I had no idea they made these engines that big.
  15. Am I missing something? They are not the same cars. One is a 41 the other a 46-48.
  16. All the best Dennis. I retired 7 years ago and was delighted to finally find something I'm really good at!
  17. I agree with Greg my 218 has had the head shaved and is now about 8 to 1 c/r. I have a fenton intake, dual B&B's, headers and dual exhaust. First and second gear are a little livelier but from 40 to about 65 mph there is a huge difference. I didn't notice any major difference in fuel mileage, I get about 21 mpg at 60 mph in overdrive. You can sinc the carbs with a length of heater hose and a good ear if you don't have the proper tool. I plan to pull the engine this winter for a freshen up and will install a performance cam at the same time.
  18. I use Autolite 303 in my 218 with dual carbs. I recently read an article in a magazine which quoted an NGK spark plug rep. as saying in part "today's fuels are blended with 5% to 10% ethanol. The addition of ethanol to gasoline results in an increase in combustion heat and a decrease in the amount of energy a litre of fuel will provide. It is important to remember that spark plugs do not create heat, they can only remove heat from the combustion chamber to the engines cooling system. Changing to a colder plug should resolve the problems that ethanol blending brings us. In addition to using colder plugs you should adjust your plug gap to .010 tighter than the factory specified gap. Do not reduce the gap below .035." I think the plug gap is probably for newer cars with electronic ignition.
  19. I have a new Offy manifold with linkage and bottom gasket that I am going to put on ebay shortly. If anyone on the forum is interested let me know, The manifold has never been used as I went with a vintage Fenton instead. The linkage was used for a short period until I went to a different set-up. The gasket is the one between the intake and exhaust. I'd like to get $200.00 plus shipping if I could. If you would like pics I'll send an email as I have no luck trying to post photos on the forum. Cheers Gary
  20. Hi Steve, There is a group of cars that started out for "Duece Day" on July 17th from Toronto. Named the "Canadian Hot Rod Tour" it was the brainchild of Frank Colgoni, a well known Toronto street rodder. Frank built a new 32 roadster with the help of many of his friends for the trip and as I write this should be on the ferry to Vancouver Island along with a large group of followers. My wife and I started out on the tour but could only spare a couple of days so had to turn back at Sault St. Marie Ontario. The tour is working with the Rick Hansen Foundation for spinal cord injuries to raise money for thier cause. If you are at the event be sure to say hello to Frank and his wife Judy, they are very nice people. Sure wish I was there. Gary
  21. My 49 rims have round holes with standard rubber tubeless valves. No problems to this point after more than a year of running. I wonder if the oval holes are a U.S. thing as I don't remember seeing them in the Great White North.
  22. Have to be careful with early Dakota rims on non Dakota disc brake set-ups. Tried to put one on the front of my sons 85 Fifth Ave. the other day and it rubbed on the upper control arm. They are an odd ball rim.
  23. I bought a clay bar a few years ago coz all my old car pals told me how great they were. I have yet to find anything the darn thing will take off. Must be doing something wrong!
  24. Zinc chromate primer is what should be used on aluminum as a base coat. It is readily available in rattle cans at Canadian Tire in the Great White North so it should be easy to find in the U.S. It is yellow in colour up here.
