  1. I did not take the cylinders apart but removed them from the car so I could get all the fluid out and also removed the lines from the car too so not to make a mess in the car.
  2. My 55 Ford used brake fluid too so all I done was to take it completely apart and blow out the lines and moved the cylinders to remove all the brake fluid and reassemble,I never flushed with anything and its been 10 years and so far no problems.
  3. Thinking about getting another 50 Windsor and if I do its going to get a 360/727 along with disc brakes and a modern rear end,are there anyone making mounts and a disc brake kit and what rear end would go in with minimal work. Also looking at 46 to early 50s Plymouths too so would it be about the same except for a shorter engine compartment.
  4. Most likely a Plymouth or Dodge but if a Desoto or Chrysler could be had I can go with those too,I could also get a 57 to 59 depending on the condition and price.
  5. What I wanted to know if it was possible to bolt in a 318 or 360,I usually tinker with mid 50s Fords and I can put a SBF in one with parts from autozone but its not looking like I can do that with a similar era Mopar.
  6. I want to be able to get parts on the road,I do 1000 mile plus trips and like to only carry a tool box and not a trunk full of spare parts. I had a hard enough time trying to get someone locally to work on old automatic trans so I would imagine its worse on the road and I want highway gears since on the trips to Florida I drive 75 to 80 all the way there and back so what ever I drive needs to be able to travel that fast for that long.
  7. Going to build a new long distance driver and really like the 55 and 56 models and was wondering if the newer motors could be bolted in or does it require custom made mounts.
  8. I thought I was the only one who done stuff like that, its not uncommon for parts to lay around for many years before I get back to them and its probably caused by too many projects which I see no cure for right now.
  9. Does anyone know if the rocker panels for a chrysler/desoto will work on a plymoth or dodge,I have a pair of replacement rockers for a 49 to 54 chrysler and found someone needing them for a 49 plymouth. I also have a master cylinder and front wheel cylinders for a 49 to 54 chrysler and know someone needing them for a 51 plymouth so will the chrysler beake parts work on the plymouth. Jeff
  10. I read the article today and there is not much about the plymouth, its about some lady whos dad who put in some pics of her when she first got married right before they buried it but the marriage did not last plus something about a two brothers and a guy who still has the 57 chevy convertible he had when they buried the plymouth. I did not look for any other articles about it as I diod notb have time. Jeff
  11. I think its a early tonka but the wheels look like a smith-miller but the bodies on the smith-miller had more detail, the private label trucks were a limited production on all brands. I still have a couple I got when I was a kid but I wish I still had the hand me down trucks from my cousins,in that bunch was a mid 50s tonka allied moving and a cattle hauler along with a smith-miller mobile gas tanker and a structo fire truck and another structo cabover truck only. I did get a couple structo firetrucks to make as one when I get the time, when I first got my computer I found ebay and bought most of the toys I got for christmas back then that I could identify. Jeff
  12. I dont ever remember seeing a stude cabover before but many years ago I seen some pics of some stude prototypes rotting in a woods somewhere around South Bend and in the woods was a cabover plus many more. Jeff
  13. My 50 chrysler had one that I think came from the factory with,it flashed the map light. Jeff
  14. Did the export plymouths use dodge bodies?. Jeff
  15. It looks like chrysler had things back asswards down there as it looks more like a plymouth then a dodge. Jeff
  16. There is one of those in a local junkyard,I doubt it is savable as its been there for over 30 years but should have some good parts. Jeff
  17. A panel truck plus a roof from a 41 to 48 coupe and one could be built. Jeff
  18. It could be the last 50 made and they ran out of 50 front end parts so they went with 51s,I have a very late 55 ford with 56 parts so anything is possible but its most likely a old repair done with parts on hand. Jeff
  19. A friend took the brakes off a 64 new yorker I parted to use on a 57 plymouth as the 64s were the bendix style, could those brakes be installed in the mid 50s on back models. Jeff
  20. I need to quit looking at pics of 39s as I wish now I would of kept the 39 sedan delivery I inherited from my father, the city was on my case about too many cars so I sold it. I have finished his 55 ford sunliner and could now work on it but I just recently sold all the remaining 39 parts I had so there is no sense in getting another 39 unless its complete and does not need much. Jeff
  21. There is a company in florida making duplicate plates for all years and states, they claim they are not for registering but look close enough to use,I am thinking about getting a pair for a car that I have the original registration and see if I can use them in Ohio. Jeff
  22. Mid 50s olds with power brakes have a big reserve tank for the vacumn along with a check valve, they are on the divers side mounted on the frame or inner fender. Jeff
  23. I wished my 50 8 pass had the full seat behind the front as mine had jump seats. Jeff
  24. I have some older repro rocker panels for a 49 to 54 chrysler or desoto if they will work, the last time I looked at them they looked to have been made from thick metal but that hs been many years ago but I wont be using them as I have nothing to put them on. Jeff
  25. I wish I kept my 50 windsor 8 pass sedan but it had to sit outside and it was getting a little rough,it went to repair one owned by a famous person so hopefully it lives on in some form. Jeff
