  1. Maybe it just needs a good charge from a battery charger or a 25 mile drive. Have you checked the cells with a hydrometer. Hows your battery connections. Clean and no corrosion? Low on water? I took an exactly 1 year old battery back to NAPA a couple of weeks ago and was givin another one free. It had one dead cell.
  2. WOW !!!!! In my part of California ( The Sticks ) a yard of concrete costs approximately $116 after tax and delivery from a 10 yard truck. A 2 x 4" wall stud costs about $4.50 and a sheet of 1/2 " 4 x 8' drywall is around $6.00. As a general building contractor after materials and labor and permit fees a new (very small home) would cost me more than that to build at my cost. Then there is the well, and septic and grading and driveway etc. Is the land free there and do people there work for nothing ????????? I'm with Norm....here I come.
  3. Another test might be to temporatily install a small tank ( lawn mower, boat, or gas can with outlet fitting installed ) in the bed of the truck. Run a temporaty line to the fuel pump and see how that works. If the problem goes away at 2500 rpm you know what to do.
  4. Hey,,,,if the Cubans can do this maybe I could too.
  5. Beautiful restoration job on the '51 Harvey !!!
  6. Dutch, That's the correct engine number for your 50 B2B. Is that number on the boss up front on the engine block on the drivers side above the front freeze plug?
  7. Hey !!!! Great idea Merle. I'm gonna get right on that today after I get some big baloon tires. I'm trying a dry run right now. .
  8. I guess the buyer really liked the $10,000 home made wooden running boards and door panels.
  9. Man....She'd look really nice in my garage next to my 38 Dodge coupe. I wonder how far Isabella Plains is from a port. Hey....is that tail gate home made?
  10. Dave, It's the low sided box and doesn't have any pressed areas in it. Yes...I can get ~.0001% better gas mileage compared to a high sided box with those pesky ribs.
  11. "Additional parts that I am in need of are as follows: * Drivers side "Dodge" *Rear and Passenger side Windows *Windshield Wiper Switch (chrome) *Actual ignition for the key. I have a switch right now *Ideas for or on how to rebuild the seat *Ideas for Door Panels and headliner *Rear lens covers only *Passenger Fender (mine is dinged up pretty bad) *Bumper" Tiffany, I do have some of the items on your list. I have a Dodge script for the hod side, the rear center cab glass, patterns for the interior panels, and a Passenger side fender with some dents on the radius part but no rust out and good rivit area. If you are interested in any of these you can PM me.
  12. Crykee !!! er however ya spell that. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180143360554&fromMakeTrack=true
  13. "Side note: Reg, please send me a personal email before you list that trailer hitch on eBay.;)" Side note to Mario: Mario, I aint agonna sell.
  14. "Okay Reg so how did you figure out "Tiffany Cowgirl"???? You are dang smart unless you know me somehow!" Lets just say " BIG BROTHER " helped me out here. No...actually the info was on your profile and myspace. It sounds like you are doing all the right stuff and those downloads should be all you need along with some blood, sweat and tears. Are the brakes working now? If so...don't fixum. Maybe just a flush of the system for now. If you need some parts someone else here should be able to help you out on a source. My experience has only been with the smaller trucks. It sounds like the price was right for your truck. I'm going today to look at a 48 2 ton for sale but it is way more expensive.....$300
  15. Here's what the factory bumper looks like. The hitch is aftermarket. Dennis Sullivan aka Dennis MN has a transplanted rear bumper on his beautiful red truck. Not sure what vehicle it came from but it looks good.
  16. "I just really appreciate the tips and insight into what to look for in a truck that has been sitting, what typical problems are and how best to correct them, and any other advice that you guys have!" Welcome to the forum Tiffany Cowgirl! Whenever I resurrect one of these neat old trucks that has been sitting for a while ( a couple of years or more) I almost always end up having to go through the brake system and the fuel system. The brake cylinders usually get crusted up with goo and rust. Sometimes they can be bled and will work for a short while but eventually they will start leaking and the brake shoes will be ruined by this leaking fluid. You want to make sure this beast can stop so you might have to rebuild the wheel cylinders or better yet install new ones !!!!! If the master cylinder still has fluid in it you might be OK in the brake department. Unless the previous owner drained the gas tank it is probably crudded up too. I don't know how long your truck has been sitting but if it's been more than a year or two it might need to be pulled out and cleaned too. Radiator shops are usually able to boil out the tank and reline it if necessary. A tuneup is probably in order, along with an oil change and a cooling system flush. If you don't have a shop manual for this truck eBay is a good source for one. Ya gotta have one. Good Luck....we're here to help.
  17. Here's a link showing a 39 door panel. http://www.hotrodding.org.uk/1939dodge.html and a live auction for a dealer brochure. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1939-Dodge-Luxury-Liner-Dealer-Brochure_W0QQitemZ180142352168QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item180142352168
  18. Rob, These brochures are loaded with lots of visual aids for reproducing interiors. this auction is closed but there will be more. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1939-DODGE-LUXURY-LINER-BIG-Dlx-Catalog-XLNT_W0QQitemZ190132311401QQihZ009QQcategoryZ34218QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD6VQQcmdZViewItem
  19. I might drive my 38 Dodge coupe. I'll let ya know if we decide to go. We also have a Delta Cruise vacation scheduled starting on 8/12 so I don't know about having that much fun all at once.
  20. The D24 230 engine is rated at about 102 HP where the 218 that came in your truck was rated at 95 HP so the good news is the additional 7 HP gain. When ordering parts just tell them it's a 46-48 Dodge car engine.
  21. Yes....great photos !!! Love those fins !!!
  22. Dan, The link is not working for me. What's the auction number?
  23. Well, if it just died suddenly after running fine and you haden't changed something maybe a valve spring broke. Yes....do a compression test.
  24. Or, are any auto parts stores able to ge me front brake shoes for my 52 1/2 ton. I know I can get them from Andy B and maybe Roberts but they always want a pretty substantial core charge which is a hassle. I know I can have my old ones relined but that takes some time too.
