  2. is it safe to say there is no 4 speed gearbox for a 1/2 ton ..
  3. If the inner workings fit in my standard 3 speed box , then yes, I suppose that would work. But I dont know what the difference is between a 3 or 4 speed box..is the 4 speed box larger?
  4. Surely a 4 speed will run morre smoother then a 3 speed on higher speeds. I can already hear the monotone high pitch noice from the 3 speed.
  5. I have a 4 speed gearbox but it is for a lot heaver truck I think a 2-5 tonner. the drive shaft end going into the engine is to big. The bell housing looks ok, I would just have to drill and tap holes i on different places think.
  6. Is it possible to change my 3 speed box , connected to a 218 1/2 ton B2b..into a 4 speed? if so , where do I purchase the parts?
  7. Thanks..yep it was like Lazures..resurected from the grave..another oldie back on the road!

  12. Did it with the mig welder..the gear stick is mild steel so easy to work with, welded a a couple of runs and all filed the grove and all done!
  13. No, mine has a screw attached to a sort of guide..except the screw is hard to get undone..may need some heat
  14. I thought about bronsing it but was not sure for the the residue coming of it going trhough my gearbox..
  15. Thanks John. Hard to find another one.. I thought Mig weld a beat on it..cool it of in oil and grind it to shape should work. Changing gear does not require heat..I mean it is not get as hot as an inner engine part therefore not requiring high strenght. what do you think?
  16. Hi good folk.. I want to use a 4 speed gearbox but found the gearstick extremly wobbly. Pulled it appart and found wear and tear.. Questions: can use some bronse or steel welding wire to re-shape the wear and tear ..see all the pics below
