Steele Vent Window rubbers
dontknowitall replied to dontknowitall's topic in Mopar Flathead Truck Forum
Hi Gordon I think the rubber from Steele are of good quality, and I was able to do a simple restructure of the lenght. I do hope Steele takes notice and modifies the vent windows rubbers.. -
I have had troubles like some here fitting this Steele Window Vent rubber, but may have found a solution. thought to share it with you, Have spoken to Steele about this and they have forwarded it to their reseach department see attached pics and (although altered a bit from the original to suit this forum) correspondence with Steele dear Cindy (at Steele) . I know the Fargo is different , in shape and your vent rubber wont fit at all, its way to short. I have replaced my Fargo Vent Frame with a USA Dodge window vent..like you have in the states. So I am using the USA vent rubber (you supplied) and the vent frame of a USA Dodge B2B truck instead of the Canadian Fargo. The picture I send you shows your supplied Window Vent rubber laying next to a USA B2B 1950 Dodge Vent rubber..not a Canadian Fargo vent rubber. It shows your vent rubber is to long by maybe half inch (1/2 ') laying side by side and for me to fit it, I have to cut a section out of the middle. I have read on the pilothouse forum (USA) a few people who have used Steele's Vent replacement rubber and had issue with it because as I found too, its to long and using it in its current form it will just not fit properly. Hope this help Steele's to have another look at this Vent rubber and make them a bit shorter.. Many regards Ryan Steeles reply: I have forward this information to our Research Department. Thats not fair! so, where would I get new ones? Mine are totally stuffed! -
hi folks 2-3 years ago I think I bought a complete kit set for my 1950 B2B Dodge (fargo) 1/2 ton truck from Steele Only today I am at assembly time and find these Vent rubbers are not fitting, they just seem short. I wonder if these are the correct ones or if there is a difference between Dodge Fargo and Dodge B2B? Steele list them as the correct ones .. http://www.steelerubber.com/search?year=1950&make=dodge&model=b-series&style=2-door-pickup-9-foot-bed#front-door-vent-weatherstrip-40-0466-55 see attached photos

yes, maybe the angle is not right
-
Thanks kevin, i thought so but mine wants to do the 360 on both ends. Does that mean i have to alter position the linkages ?
-
ok, am installing wipers but have the following issue; some one explain please how wiper motor linkages work? My wiper motor goes 360 around and around? when connecting with linkages to the unit that connects to the wiper arms..it hits the inside of the top of the dashboard. is that suppose to go 360 turn as well or with the help of the linkages go from right to left? I am grey and now totally confused....
