  1. Thanks Olddaddy, That's useful information.
  2. My car is going into a friend's shop in two weeks' time for him to have some hinge pins machined and fitted. This new idea sounds interesting, but is just that bit too late for me.
  3. Because my wife and I lead a vintage-inspired lifestyle, we are regualrly asked if we have anything modern in our house. I always say that we do have mod cons, including a microwave oven. It's just that we have a vintage-style valve-operated microwave. I say it cooks the food really quickly, but it takes 30 minutes to warm up in the first place. It usually takes a while for them to realise I'm joking, but I always find the initial look of puzzlement amusing.
  4. Eric has that right, but the Beetle design was, in turn, based on the Czechoslovakian Tatra, designed by Hans Ledwinka. He was Austrian and shared his ideas with Ferdinand Porsche when he was drawing up the Beetle. I have read, previously, that one of the reasons Hitler wanted to invade Czechoslovakia was to annexe its industrial might and engineering excellence. Obviously, after the Nazi occupation (and decimation) and years of post-war Soviet rule, most of that industrial heritage was wasted. These links give some interesting information: http://www.tatra.demon.nl/cars_history_aerodynamic.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tatra_(car)#War_years
  5. I did a Google search and found this page, which states that only two 1948 Dodge limos were made. I never would have guessed that they would be that rare. auto.howstuffworks.com/1940-1948-dodge4.htm
  6. In central London, gas is about £1.08 ($2.12) per litre. That's about $8.02 per US gallon.
  7. That car's been advertised on the HAMB for a couple of months. Originally listed at $19,500, now reduced to $12,500. Here's the link... www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=228164
  8. It's amazing how cars seen damaged in movie car chases sometimes miraculously get better panels in the next shot.... But I've never before seen one change from a 2-door to a 4-door and back again!!! Obviously, PLYMOUTH BUILD BETTER CARS. Look out for this one - coming soon on Ebay. (Or maybe it was buried in Tulsa). www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bxvGy1Uy70
  9. Hey Don, Looks like the grandkids snuck out for a burger when you weren't looking....
  10. Guys, The February issue of Classic & Sports Car Magazine includes a full-page feature about the Rhythm Riot festival, which I organise in the UK. Bryan Webb is pictured, with his P15 coupe. I've attached a small copy of the page - email me if you'd like a bigger (legible) version. Happy New Year to you all. Robin.
  11. Hey Allan, Nice Calendar. I missed the initial thread as I was on vacation. Delighted to see my car is Miss November!!! Thanks. Happy New Year. Robin.
  12. Hi 49DodgeBoy, I got a pair of repop steel skirts from Agape Autos www.SkirtsAndVisors.com I'm very happy with them. Might be worth contacting them about skirts for your car. Good luck. Robin.
  13. Guys, Hoping you all have a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy New Year. It's a pleasure being in your company, in cyberspace. With sincere best wishes from England. Robin.
  14. Wow! Some heavy impacts there. This poor P15 was in a fatal collision.
  15. ...and here are the other three pages of the article.
  16. If anyone's interested, here's a link to a trailer for the film. A great story... movies.nytimes.com/movie/175585/Red-Hot/trailers
  17. Hey Guys, Look at this... a feature in a weekly magazine from Latvia, called "Privata Dzive" (Private Life). The journalist came to our Rhythm Riot festival and the four page article leads with a picture of my Plymouth - or maybe a picture of two attractive women, posing next to my Plymouth?!! Hope you like it. Robin. By the way, Pits (Pete) Anderson, from Latvia, came to play at the festival, with his band. He formed the first rock'n'roll band in the old Soviet Union, during the days when the music was banned by the government. His life story is the inspiration for the 1993 film, Red Hot, starring Donald Sutherland. Pete was the original rebel WITH a cause!!!
  18. I'm always reluctant to post details of auctions before they end, as I wouldn't want to pull the carpet out from under someone else. However, I figure if you're going to bid on this one, you won't be too bothered by the bidding competition from anyone on this Forum. Here's one of my all-time dream cars, for sale by RM Auctions... www.rmauctions.com/FeatureCars.cfm?SaleCode=AZ08&CarID=r103 What a beauty! I'd love to have that in my garage.
  19. Hey Bob, I could use a hood release inner and outer cable, if you're planning to sell any parts from your spare dash. Thanks. Robin.
  20. Hi Guys, Does anyone have experience of replacing the wiring loom in their car? If so, which suppliers would you recommend for a ready made-up loom? Thanks. Robin.
  21. Bob, I've been watching the bidding on that Fire Extinguisher. Not to buy it - just to see the end price. In the meantime, another has been listed, with a Buy It Now price of $1450 - that one has the original bracket. Picture attached.
  22. Guys, I think it's time to try to solve the slow leak from the back of my motor. What's your experience of fitting a 2-piece neoprene seal without removing the motor? Am I likely to fix the leak, or set up a whole other problem by dislodging what's currently in place? Would be nice to know how it has worked for others. Also, where's the best place to get the seal? Thanks. Robin.
  23. Thanks Lou, That's great. I'll begin my search. R.
  24. Hi Guys I have been working through the hot starting problem on my Plymouth. It looks like it must be a problem with heat sink into worn copper windings, as everything else appears to be OK. If I'm going to replace the starter motor, are all P15/D24 motors interchangeable? What about other years? My problem is that I have a 47 car with a 51 Dodge engine, so I need to make sure I get a part that will fit. Thanks for any advice you can give. Robin.
  25. Browsing MySpace, I found pictures of this D24 Convertible, in England. I'm going to try to track it down. Will report back if I get any news.
