  1. That is what I have seen, but heard it is better to go to the starter, six of one........
  2. Looking at the parts book it calls for a 30" cable to the Starter (-) and a 24" cable for the Ground (+). No specs on gauge, I know being six volts the 'auto store' 12 volt cables will not be sufficient. What gauge is standard and/or recommended, 0 maybe 00? Is 24" enough to get you to a starter bolt for the ground (+)?
  3. Dug out the three original pumps I have, will go through them all and determine which to use. All the pieces I found so far are from the Melling pump, they all line up, still need to filter the oil and inspect/clean the block.

  6. Deal, I just need to get the right dimensions, a good picture of the fonts will be easy to create.
  7. No unfortunately I do not. If you could supply me a picture of that mount and maybe some dimensions, that would be fantastic. I might have to fab it up myself, unless I can find one, which I find unlikely. The nameplate I can just do out of aluminum and have a label printed once I design it.

  10. Been working on my wiring diagram, adding things that are not on the original, like heater, wipers, etc. Recently purchased the cigar lighter had to go out in the shop to find this, purchased it back in '88'. Does not seem to come with the mentioned 'Steering post Bracket', too bad. I am also missing the Name Plate.
  11. To do it properly, as opposed to the way I ended up doing it you need to index the pump, before putting the distributor in. This is a thread where I asked similar questions. Distributor Install
  12. My understanding is these have been out of production for close to 10 years.

  16. Finally received this today, came from China, ordered a total of three, the first one delivered was a 1956 FORD PU, glad this one was correct. Cannot find them anywhere, ordered the last from AliExpress.
  17. BORED, sitting here at an event I'd rather not be at, just looked up the Melling warranty, I guess I should have been a little quicker working on this, it's one year, I missed that by about a month and a half. We'll see if Clegg can help that's where I purchased the rebuild kit, fingers crossed. If it's a replacement it's really something thats just going to go up for sale on eBay, so not the end of the world if I get nothing.
  18. Offering advice is in no way bugging anyone. I do still have a lot of inspection to do, this was all I had time for today. I first want to line up the three pieces to the gear and see if they look like they all came from the gear and did a clean break, one may be from the cam, pan is soaking with kerosene right now. to be ran through an old coffee filter. Hope to get back at it tomorrow after work, will be too late when I get home tonight. I actually didn't think about removing the caps but not a bad idea, once I get the engine flipped over right side up, I planned on getting every cylinder at top dead center and cleaning the cylinder walls with brake cleaner. Thanks for your input.
  19. This is the only damage i found, minimal one one tooth, may have dodged the bullet on this one I am thinking burnish it with a sander bit on the Dremel and run with it.
